The study successfully demonstrated a silica-based TDFA operating from 1628 nm to 1655 nm, achieving up to 19dB small signal gain and a noise figure as low as 4.4 dB at 1655nm. This represents a significant extension of the gain bandwidth compared to previous reports.

The performance at shorter wavelengths is limited by the insertion loss of the WDM coupler and strong re-absorption of signal light by Tm ions in their ground state. Further optimization of passive fibre components and splicing loss is needed.
1：Experimental Design and Method Selection
