研究目的
Investigating the mode sensitivity (Smode) of subwavelength grating slot (SWGS) waveguides for applications in sensors, modulators, and thermally-controlled devices.
研究成果
The SWGS waveguide exhibits high mode sensitivity, with experimental and designed values of Smode in good agreement (79% and 83%, respectively). The structure is suitable for integrated sensing applications, electro-optic modulators, and athermal photonic devices. Further improvement of device sensitivity can be achieved by increasing the device layer height and/or deeply etching the BOX layer anisotropically.
研究不足
The study is limited by fabrication constraints, such as the minimum feature size limitations imposed by electron-beam lithography and reactive-ion etching. Additionally, the mode sensitivity is dependent on the cladding material composition and geometry, which may vary in practical applications.
