The Ag@C catalyst exhibited excellent recyclability and could be used as an efficient substrate for SERS, making it a promising tool for monitoring the progress of reactions. This work provides an effective approach to fully use the sustainable and widely accessible waste fibers from the paper-making industry.

1：Experimental Design and Method Selection:
Utilized the one-step thermal reduction and carbonization method to synthesize a meso-pore carbon frame with mono-dispersed silver nanoparticles (Ag@C).
2：Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Recycled fibers (waste newspaper pulp) were collected from Guangzhou paper Limited by Share Ltd.
3：List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Silver nitrate (AgNO3), 4-Methylbenzoic acid (4-MBA), 4-nitrophenol(4-NP), Sodium borohydride (NaBH4), and deionized water.
4：Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The paper was cut into small strips, dried, immersed in Ag(NH3)2NO3 solution, washed, dried, and then carbonized at 800°C under an N2 atmosphere.
5：Data Analysis Methods:
UV–visible-NIR spectrophotometer, Raman scattering measurements, FT-IR spectra, atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS), SEM, TEM, AFM, XRD, XPS.
