研究目的
Investigating the enhancement of optical transparency, crystalline perfection, laser damage threshold values, and mechanical strength of thiourea doped potassium bromide crystals grown under slow evaporation solution growth technique.
研究成果
The study successfully grew optically transparent, defect-free, and good quality single crystals of KTB using slow evaporation technique. The crystals exhibited significant NLO property, positive photoconductivity, and high laser damage threshold. Mechanical studies revealed the soft nature of the crystal, with calculated parameters indicating stability and strength. These characteristics suggest that KTB crystals could be suitable for frequency conversion and optoelectronic applications.
研究不足
The study is limited to the characterization of KTB crystals grown under specific conditions. The mechanical parameters reported are for the first time under orthorhombic system, and further studies may be needed to explore other crystal systems or conditions.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study employed slow evaporation solution growth technique for crystal growth. X-ray diffraction analysis was used for validation and morphology. FT-IR, UV-VIS-NIR, NLO, Photoconductivity, Laser damage threshold, and Vicker’s micro hardness studies were conducted for characterization.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Thiourea and Potassium Bromide were dissolved in double distilled water and stirred continuously for 6 hours using a temperature controlled magnetic stirrer. The solution was filtered and allowed for slow evaporation at room temperature.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
ENRAF NONIUS CAD 4 single crystal X-ray diffractometer, Varian Cary 5e Uv-Vis-Nir Spectrophotometer, Nd:YAG laser, Leitz Wetzlar Vickers microhardness tester.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The solution was filtered and allowed for slow evaporation at room temperature. After a growth period of 20 days, well developed crystals were obtained. Various characterizations were then performed.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The data collected from various characterizations were analyzed to determine the structural, optical, mechanical properties, and laser damage threshold of the KTB crystal.
