研究目的
Investigating the influence of melasma risk factors on the effectiveness of laser toning treatment in Venezuelan females.
研究成果
Clinical factors involved in the appearance of melasma influence laser therapy outcomes. Timely treatment of diseases related to melasma lesions including thyroid disorders and vascular compromise of the lesions would improve the efficacy of Q-switched laser therapy which is a good option treatment for Venezuelan patients. The use of sunscreens is essential to obtain optimal treatment results. The use of hormonal therapy during melasma treatment must be avoided.
研究不足
The study did not evaluate the increased vasculature in lesional melasma skin, which is frequently seen as a consequence of solar elastosis.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
Clinical evaluation was performed including ultrasound and thyroid hormone profile. All patients underwent face exposure with laser toning, eight sessions weekly. VISIA percentiles corresponding to dark brown spots determined before and after treatment were compared by ANOVA.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
64 female patients with clinical diagnosis of melasma.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Q-switched 1064 Nd: YAG laser, VISIA Complexion Analysis System.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
Patients were treated with the 1064-nm QS-Nd: YAG laser in eight sessions weekly. Each patient underwent face exposure with the 1 ns Q-switched mode, 1.2 J/cm2 (increasing progressively from 1 joule up to 2 joules), 8 mm spot size, frequency 10 Hz with multiple passes.
5:2 J/cm2 (increasing progressively from 1 joule up to 2 joules), 8 mm spot size, frequency 10 Hz with multiple passes.
Data Analysis Methods:
5. Data Analysis Methods: Non-parametric comparative study was performed and the Friedman test was used to compare the values of percentiles. Correlations between different variables were performed using the Spearman correlation coefficient.
