研究目的
Investigating the therapeutic effects of combining photodynamic therapy (PDT) and CO2 laser on oral leukoplakia (OL), especially high-risk OL, to avoid malignant transformation.
研究成果
The combination of PDT and CO2 laser is safe and effective for OL treatment, demonstrating that this is an ideal treatment, especially for high-risk OL lesions involving a large area or on areas with high surgical risk. However, more cases need to be included to verify the effectiveness of this combination therapy and its long-term significance.
研究不足
The study is limited by the small number of cases (only three) and the need for long-term follow-up to verify the effectiveness and long-term significance of the combination therapy.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study involved treating OL lesions with a combination of PDT and CO2 laser. The CO2 laser was used to reduce the thickness of the primary lesion to facilitate ALA absorption.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Three cases of OL with different levels of dysplasia and on different locations were selected.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
CO2 laser (Juehua Medical Devices Co., Ltd.), 20% ALA (Zhangjiang Pharmaceuticals, Shanghai, China), and a laser at 630 nm wavelength (Yage LED-IB photodynamic therapy instrument Co., Ltd., Wuhan, China).
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
After removing the thick surface of the lesion with a CO2 laser, the fresh wound was exposed with prepared 20% ALA for 2–3 hours. The lesion was then irradiated with a laser at 630 nm wavelength.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The effectiveness of the treatment was evaluated based on the reduction of the lesion and the occurrence of side effects.
