To propose a simple, but general methodology which can be used to set up Design Support Tools for Micro and Small Enterprises that supply Stand-Alone Photovoltaic systems in rural areas of Developing Countries.

The study concludes that the proposed methodology effectively supports the development of Design Support Tools for SAPV systems in rural areas of Developing Countries. The implemented tool, VE Sizing and Pricing, demonstrates correct system designs and offers advantages for dissemination in rural areas, supporting users in data input, component selection, and estimate formulation.

The methodology is based on an intuitive design technique which may cause over/under sizing of the design. The study focuses on rural areas of Developing Countries, which may limit its applicability in other contexts.
