Anthocyanin sensitized ZnO based DSSC yield better photovoltaic performances compared to those of chlorophyll sensitized due to better anchoring with ZnO. Anthocyanin molecules are able to chemically adsorb into ZnO nanoparticles, whereas chlorophyll only forms weak physical bonds. The chemical structure of anthocyanin is smaller and more reactive compared to chlorophyll, leading to better performance.

The study is limited to the comparison of anthocyanin and chlorophyll dyes as sensitizers for ZnO-based DSSCs. The research did not explore other natural dyes or their combinations.
