研究目的
To provide a summary of low-rank approaches for massive MIMO channel estimation, focusing on their basic ideas, detailed realization scheme, as well as the merits and drawbacks on addressing the foregoing challenges.
研究成果
The paper concludes that the narrow angular spread or the spatial sparsity is crucial for all low-rank approaches in massive MIMO systems. It highlights that the SBEM method, specifically designed for massive MIMO systems from the viewpoint of antenna array theory, could handle most challenges faced by massive MIMO channel estimation, while the other methods still have certain limitations. Future research directions include array configuration design, angle-based beamforming, and angle tracking based channel tracking.
研究不足
The paper discusses the limitations of each low-rank channel estimation method, including the difficulty in acquiring CCMs for multi-user massive MIMO systems, especially for FDD mode, the performance degradation of CS-based methods under low SNR conditions, and the idealistic assumptions of exact sparse channel models.
