研究目的
Investigating the lasing regimes of ring erbium fiber lasers passively Q-switched by means of fiber tapers coated with thin crystalline films of either Bi2Te3 or Bi as saturable absorbers.
研究成果
The study successfully demonstrates the use of Bi2Te3 and Bi nanoisland films as saturable absorbers in fiber lasers, highlighting the importance of the refractive index of the polymer coating. The most stable Q-switch laser oscillation is achieved with a polymer covering having a refractive index less than that of fused silica. The maximum pulse energy of ~565 nJ is obtained with a pure bismuth thin film, suggesting its potential as an alternative to bismuth chalcogenides.
研究不足
The study is limited by the sensitivity of the polymer-coated SA films to temperature changes, which affects the laser's performance stability. Additionally, the fabrication process of the tapers and SA films requires precise control.
