研究目的
To examine the cause of treatment failures in Type 1 retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).
研究成果
Inadequate laser coagulation is an important and dangerous cause of treatment failure in infants with Type I ROP and may lead to life-long visual handicap. Experienced and competent surgeons are therefore crucial. Some kind of centralization of the ROP treatment in our country is an important way to go forward to minimize severe visual disability in prematurely born children.
研究不足
The small number of patients in this study may not be representative for the quality of laser coagulation on a national level. The study is retrospective and relies on the accuracy of medical records and imaging.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study reviewed the medical charts of all infants with disease persistence after laser treatment at Uppsala University Hospital, Sweden, during a 10-year period (2009–2019). RetCam photography and angiography were used to document the retinal appearance before and after retreatment.
2:9). RetCam photography and angiography were used to document the retinal appearance before and after retreatment. Sample Selection and Data Sources:
2. Sample Selection and Data Sources: The study included ten infants (18 eyes) with persistent Type 1 ROP in zone I or zone II, of whom nine were referred from other hospitals.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
RetCam photography and angiography were used.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The medical charts were reviewed, and information on gestational age at birth, birth weight, and details of the ophthalmological screening from SWEDROP were retrieved.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The study analyzed the causes of treatment failure and the outcomes of additional treatments.
