研究目的
Investigating the development of a continuously tunable titanium-sapphire (Ti:Sa) laser system using dispersion prisms for the ARIEL laser ion source at TRIUMF, aiming to overcome the limitations of current wavelength selection methods in terms of output power and ease of use for continuous wavelength scans.
研究成果
The prism-based Ti:Sa laser system shows promise for replacing grating-tuned lasers in the ARIEL laser ion source, offering a broad tuning range and comparable output power to birefringent filter-tuned lasers. Improvements in system stability, prism fixation, and pump laser operation could enhance performance, making it a viable alternative for resonant ionization spectroscopy applications.
研究不足
The system's stability and output power are affected by the unstable operation of the pump laser and the physical arrangement of the prisms, which were not fixed securely, leading to susceptibility to vibrations and loss of lasing. The tuning range and linewidth could be further improved with more stable operation and better dispersion or deviation of the beam through the prisms.
