Ordered mesoporous Au was successfully prepared using double gyroid mesoporous silica KIT-6 as a template through a seed-mediated growth process. The formed mesoporous Au has high surface area and small pore sizes, which is promising for various applications such as catalysis and SERS.

The deposition of Au within the mesopores of KIT-6 is extremely difficult due to the difficulty in controlling the deposition behavior of Au.
