To prepare photoresponsive polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) fibers doped with naphthopyran-functionalized silica nanoparticles (SiO2@NPT) by dry–jet wet spinning and evaluate their photochromic properties.

Photoresponsive PVDF fibers doped with photochromic naphthopyran-based silica nanoparticles were successfully produced through dry–jet wet spinning, exhibiting promising photoresponsive properties under UV and sunlight irradiation, with PVDF@SiO2@S2 fibers presenting the best global photochromic performance.

1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
Photoresponsive PVDF fibers were prepared by dry–jet wet spinning through the incorporation of photochromic hybrid nanomaterials, SiO2@NPTs.

PVDF pellets and photochromic SiO2 NPs functionalized with silylated naphthopyrans (NPTs) were used.

PVDF/DMAc solution was prepared, SiO2@NPT was added and dispersed, the dispersion was extruded through a spinneret, quenched in water, and drawn through godets.

SEM-EDS for morphological and chemical characterization, FTIR-ATR for chemical composition, UV–Vis and colorimetry for photochromic properties.
