研究目的
The object of the research was to synthesize Sm(III), Eu(III), and Gd(III) complexes with N-phenylanthranilic acid and 1,10-phenathroline and to characterize them by use of elemental analysis, complexometry, X-ray powder diffractometry (XRD), electronic spectroscopy (UV–VIS), infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), simultaneous thermogravimetry and differential scanning calorimetry (TG-DSC), and TG-DSC coupled with FTIR and MS. In addition, antibacterial activities of the complexes were tested against two Gram-negative (Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and one Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus) bacterial strains.
研究成果
The newly prepared compounds exhibit enhanced antibacterial activity, especially the ternary complexes against Escherichia coli. The thermal decomposition pathways and the nature of water present in these compounds were elucidated. The study provides valuable insights into the potential use of these complexes in the management of infections caused by Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Staphylococcus aureus.
研究不足
The study is limited to the synthesis and characterization of Sm(III), Eu(III), and Gd(III) complexes with N-phenylanthranilic acid and 1,10-phenanthroline. The antibacterial activity was tested against only three bacterial strains.
