研究目的
To examine the correlation between noninvasive and histological data to chronicle the degeneration pro?le of RGCs in the retina and optic nerve in a mouse model of MS.
研究成果
DTI and OCT measures are tightly correlated during the chronic phase of axonal degeneration (4–8 weeks) in EAE mice. After 8 weeks of EAE, both OCT and DTI measures are strong predictors of axon loss in the Optic Nerve.
研究不足
The study was conducted on a mouse model, which may not fully replicate human MS conditions. The small sample size may also limit the generalizability of the findings.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study utilized OCT and DTI to examine the degeneration profile of RGCs in a mouse model of MS.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
EAE was induced in 11 C57Bl/6 mice, with 8 mice as controls. OCT and DTI were conducted 2–8 weeks after induction.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
OCT imaging was performed using a Bioptigen Envisu C-Class. MRI acquisitions were collected using a Bruker
4:7T BioSpec small animal MRI instrument. Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
OCT scans were acquired at baseline and after 2, 4, and 8 weeks. DTI scans were acquired after 2, 4, and 8 weeks.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
Statistical calculations were carried out in Prism 6.0. Comparisons between groups were performed using a one-way ANOVA followed by post-hoc Tukey's test.
