研究目的
To evaluate the penetration behavior of retinyl acetate and alpha-tocopheryl acetate into skin with different stages of ageing.
研究成果
The study demonstrated that both retinyl acetate and alpha-tocopheryl acetate penetrated the stratum corneum of both young and elderly skin, with the penetration mainly affected by the composition of SC and their physico-chemical properties. The penetration profile of alpha-tocopheryl acetate showed significant statistical difference between groups from surface up to 12 μm.
研究不足
The study was limited to the evaluation of penetration of only two vitamin derivatives and did not explore the penetration of other actives. The sample size was relatively small, and the study was conducted only on Caucasian women.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study involved the application of two vitamin derivatives on the volar forearm region of study participants, followed by confocal Raman spectroscopic analysis to evaluate their penetration into the stratum corneum.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Twenty-two healthy Caucasian women were selected and divided into two groups based on age.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Confocal Raman unit contains 3510 Skin Composition Analyzer with a diode laser of 785 nm wavelength and 26 mW power.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The acquisition of the spectra in extended fingerprint region was made considering the depths of skin from 0 μm up to 24 μm with a step size of 2 μm.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The depth profiles of the vitamin derivatives and main components of the SC were calculated using SkinTools 2.0 software.
