The optimized structure for the plastic based fibers are in a case where the half of cladding has been removed. Our used approach can be exploited on the design of optical based SPR sensors considering the detection sample properties.

The fibers whose cladding has been fully removed do not show convenient response for higher refractive indices.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study is based on solving wave equation in different sensor geometry and calculating absorption for different available modes using Finite Element Method in COMSOL environment.

Three different configurations of optical fiber based surface Plasmon resonance sensor were analyzed.
