Two zinc(II) CPs were successfully synthesized and characterized. CP 1 exhibits a 1D ladder-like chain structure, while CP 2 shows a 2D layer with 63-hcb topology. Both CPs demonstrate high sensitivity and selectivity for the detection of Hg2+ and Cr2O7 2- ions in aqueous solutions, making them promising candidates for luminescent sensors.

1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The CPs were synthesized under solvothermal conditions using Zn(OAc)2·H2O, L ligand, and either 5-H2nip or 5-H2mip as co-ligands. The structures were characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra, thermogravimetric analyses, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction.

4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The mixtures were stirred, heated in a Teflon-lined stainless steel vessel, and cooled to room temperature. Crystals were collected and characterized.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The luminescence quenching efficiency was analyzed using the Stern-Volmer equation.
