研究目的
Investigating the therapeutic effects of aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy (ALA-PDT) on Hailey-Hailey disease (HHD).
研究成果
ALA-PDT was effective in treating HHD in this patient, with no relapse observed during a 12-month follow-up period. The treatment was well tolerated with mild discomfort during light exposure.
研究不足
The study is limited to a single case, and the long-term efficacy and potential side effects of ALA-PDT for HHD need further investigation.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
A course of ALA-PDT consisting of five treatment sessions over 2-wk intervals was initiated. 10% ALA cream was applied to the axillae and groin for 3 h, followed by irradiation with red light (623~643 nm). A non-coherent light-emitting diode light source was used with a fluence rate of 20~40 mW/cm2 and a light dose of 37 J/cm2 for 20 min.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
A 40-year-old man with a 3-year history of HHD.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
10% ALA cream, non-coherent light-emitting diode light source.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
Application of ALA cream followed by red light irradiation.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
Clinical observation of the patient's condition before and after treatment.
