研究目的
Investigating the visible light driven photocatalytic activity for degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) by Cu-doped ZnAl layered double hydroxide.
研究成果
The Cu-doped ZnAl LDHs with well layer structure were prepared by coprecipitation method. The doping of Cu2+ into the LDH sheets improves the visible light absorption capacity of ZnAl LDHs. The formed distorted CuO6 octahedrons in the sheets contribute the excitation of electrons under visible light. The doped copper ions also server as the photo-generated charges separator which effectively separates the excited electrons and holes, resulting in the effective photodegradation of RhB under visible light. This photodegradation process has been found to fit the first-order kinetics model. The hydroxyl radicals were found to be the main reactive species during the photodegradation process.
研究不足
The study focuses on the degradation of RhB under visible light by Cu-doped ZnAl LDH, and the mechanism is proposed based on the hydroxyl radical as the active species. The limitations include the specific conditions under which the experiments were conducted and the potential for further optimization of the photocatalytic activity.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
Cu-doped ZnAl LDHs were prepared by a coprecipitation process at room temperature under air. The Cu/Zn/Al atomic ratios in the precursor solutions were set as 0/2/1,
2:1/2/2, 1/2/1 and 2/2/Sample Selection and Data Sources:
The desired amounts of zinc nitrate, copper nitrate and aluminum nitrate were dissolved into water to prepare a metal precursor solution with the total cation concentration of 1 mol/L.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
An X-ray diffraction diffractometer (XRD, Dmax 2000, Rigaku, Japan), JSM-6360LV scanning electron microscope (SEM), FEI TECNAI-10 transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscope (XPS, XSAM 800, CRATOS Co., Manchester, UK), UV-vis spectrophotometer (UV-2550, Shimadzu), V-SORB 2800P specific surface and pore size analyzer (Gold APP, China).
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The precursor and precipitant solutions were added dropwise simultaneously with vigorous stirring into deionized water in a beaker at room temperature, keeping the pH at approximately 10 by controlling the addition speeds. The resulting suspension solution was kept in a water bath at 65 °C for 24 h, then filtered and washed with water several times until pH was about
5:The resulting cake was dried at 80 °C in an air oven overnight. Data Analysis Methods:
The photocatalytic activity was evaluated by the degradation of RhB aqueous solution under visible light irradiation. The concentration of RhB was measured by a spectrophotometer at wavelength of 554 nm.
