研究目的
Investigating the fabrication and characterizations of highly transparent Tb3Ga5O12 magneto-optical ceramics for high-power Faraday isolators.
研究成果
TGG transparent ceramics with high optical quality and magneto-optical property were successfully fabricated. The prepared TGG magneto-optical ceramics show a similar Verdet constant compared to the TGG crystals, making them an attractive alternative for high-power Faraday isolators.
研究不足
The optical quality of the ceramic can be further improved by optimizing the preparation technology.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The co-precipitation method was utilized to produce nanosized TGG powders. TGG transparent ceramics were fabricated by pre-sintering at different temperatures in a muffle furnace followed by HIP post-treatment.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Tb(NO3)3 and Ga(NO3)3 solutions were prepared by dissolving Tb4O7 and Ga2O3 in high-purity hot nitric acid.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and a spectrophotometer were used.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The precursor was calcined at 1100 °C for 4 h, pressed into pellets, sintered at 1450–1500 °C for 3 h in air, and then HIP post-treated at 1550 °C for 3 h under 150 MPa in Ar atmosphere.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The Verdet constant was measured using an instrument consisting of a He–Ne laser, two polarizers, and an electromagnet at room temperature.
