The field propagation inside a six-port Riblet-type directional coupler was successfully analyzed using cavity modeling technique. The theoretical scattering parameter data agreed well with CST Microwave Studio simulation data and measured data, verifying the analysis. The coupler demonstrated two isolated ports with approximately 25 dB broadband isolation coefficient and three coupled ports with broadband 4.8 dB coupling coefficient.
