Cobalt oxide have attracted many researchers in various fields, because of its unique physical, chemical, electronic and magnetic properties.

The green synthesis of cobalt oxide nanorods using Vitis vinifera plant extract was successful, resulting in nanorods with excellent catalytic, photocatalytic, and antibacterial properties. The nanorods were effective in degrading textile dye waste water and reducing nitroaromatic compounds, as well as inhibiting bacterial growth.

1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The synthesis of cobalt oxide nanorods was carried out using a hot plate combustion method with Vitis vinifera plant extract as a reducing and capping agent.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
The samples were characterized using XRD, FT-IR, Raman, TEM, SAED, EDX, DRS, PL, and VSM techniques.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
Cobalt(II) nitrate hexahydrate, glycine, sodium borohydride, 4-nitrophenol, 4-nitroaniline, and other chemicals were used.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
The solution was placed on a hot plate heater at 250°C for 15 mins, resulting in a black precipitate which was then annealed at 300°C for 2 h.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
The photocatalytic degradation efficiency was calculated based on COD removal, and the catalytic reduction of aromatic compounds was monitored using UV-Vis spectroscopy.
