研究目的
To quantify vascular and structural macular variables in healthy eyes and to investigate correlations between these variables and age using optical coherence tomography angiography.
研究成果
Vascular density of choriocapillaris varies with retinal vascular density rather than the structure of choroid using optical coherence tomography angiography. In contrast, retinal vascular density changes with the retinal structure. Age is an important factor affecting images of OCT and OCTA. The results provide more information about the relationship between retina and choroid.
研究不足
The study design was retrospective and cross-sectional. Manual measurement of FAZ area might have influenced the results. The study did not investigate FAZ area in the deep capillary plexus due to histologic and technical reasons. The measurement of vascular density in each layer could have been influenced by image quality.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
The study used swept-source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT) and optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) to measure various retinal and choroidal parameters.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Included 261 eyes of 261 subjects with normal fundus, excluding eyes with an axial length of >
3:5 mm or a history of intraocular treatment. List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
SS-OCT (DRI OCT Triton, software version 10.10; Topcon Corp, Tokyo, Japan), ImageJ software (National Institutes of Health).
4:10; Topcon Corp, Tokyo, Japan), ImageJ software (National Institutes of Health). Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
4. Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow: Measurements included central macular thickness, ganglion cell layer to inner plexiform layer thickness, outer retina layer thickness, subfoveal choroidal thickness, choroidal vascularity index, foveal avascular zone area, vascular density, and flow void area.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
Statistical analyses were performed with SPSS software version 24 for Windows (IBM Corp, Armonk, NY, USA).
