P,Cl-CDs were successfully synthesized and demonstrated to be an advanced and selective fluorescent nanosensor for Fe(III) detection, with high QY and photostability. The method shows promise for practical applications in medicine, food, and environmental safety.

The method has no major limitations if the detection conditions are well controlled. However, the influence of Cu2+ and Al3+ becomes obvious if the pH value changes to pH 5.0 or 6.0, requiring careful pH control before using this sensor for complex samples.
