The Bi2S3 urchin/CNTs composites show obviously superior photocatalytic activity for the photodegradation of MO under visible light. A hierarchically urchin-like morphology provides enough active sites and CNTs suppress recombination of the electrons–holes in the nanocomposites.

The decrease in activity with higher CNTs amount in composite catalyst could be attributed to photon scattering caused by surplus carbon in the photoreaction system.
