To present an Electrically Small antenna with narrow bandwidth suitable for nearfield sensor application, based on a Distributed Reactive Nearfield Parasitic Element (DRNPE), and to discuss its use as a sensor for measuring dielectric constant variation.

The compact CPW-fed antenna with DRNPE is effective for nearfield sensor applications, offering significant size reduction and sensitivity to dielectric constant variations. It is suitable for nearfield phantom measurements in Body Area Networks (BAN).

The antenna is not a good radiator but a good resonator, making it less effective for applications requiring high radiation efficiency. The sensitivity to dielectric constant variation decreases as the dielectric constant increases.
