Developing a simple, low temperature, cost effective, surfactant free and scalable synthesis of Zn2SnO4 (ZTO) nanoparticles with controllable size and shape and evaluating their photocatalytic activity for the photodegradation of methylene blue (MB) under UV-Vis light irradiation.
研究成果
The study successfully developed a simple, surfactant free, low temperature and economic synthetic method for preparation of phase pure ZTO nanoparticles with good photocatalytic activity for the degradation of MB dye under UV-Vis light. The high photocatalytic activity is attributed to the higher crystallinities of the ZTO nanoparticles, which reduces the capture of electrons by the defect sites and results in the high efficiency of electron transfer in the bulk of nanoparticles.

The synthesized ZTO nanoparticles are agglomerated due to lack of surfactants, which might affect their photocatalytic efficiency and application in large-scale production.
