研究目的
Investigating the kinetics of pipeline steel corrosion using Raman spectroscopy-coupled vertical scanning interferometry to quantify corrosion rates and understand the physical and chemical aspects of steel corrosion.
研究成果
The RC-VSI system enables the quantification of corrosion rates and analyses of corrosion products, providing spatially resolved steel corrosion maps, corrosion product maps, and Raman spectroscopy maps. The method offers a comprehensive quantification of reaction kinetics, representing a new tool for material characteristic quantification beyond conventional rate constants.
研究不足
The orthogonal white light beam of the VSI allows only surface normal pit depth measurements. The corrosion product volume method measures only the surface topography, not evaluating the density of the corrosion products and possible voids or air bubbles beneath the surface. Cleaning off the corrosion products with Clarke’s solution may dissolve small amounts of steel, slightly affecting the rate measurements.
