研究目的
Evaluating the impact of packet delay and throughput for different XGPON scenarios for different user distributions and assessing the flexibility to cope with extra traffic caused by existing protection schemes.
研究成果
XGPON offers up to 10 Gbps aggregated capacity using TDMA, with heterogeneous users accessing this capacity according to DBA. The presented DBA considers DBRu for informing newly arrived packets, showing that user heterogeneity encourages protection mechanisms. The impact of coping with protected traffic from another failed network has been evaluated, indicating that traffic can be protected at the expense of an increase of delay but still below the delay limits of the system.
研究不足
The analysis is performed for worst-case scenarios, and heterogeneity in practical systems may offer better performance. Other alternatives to cope with protected traffic, such as other traffic classes definitions, are left for further work.
