研究目的
Investigating the effects of UV-C light on the photosynthetic and physiological responses of common dandelion and purple coneflower.
研究成果
Exposition of common dandelion and purple coneflower to enhanced levels of UV-C radiation determines important alterations in their growth and physiology. Further investigations are needed to understand the tolerance mechanisms and the most effective doses of UV-C radiation for beneficial effects on plants.
研究不足
The effects on plants submitted to UV-C light depend on the frequency, the duration, the dose and the wavelengths of the UV-C treatments. Preliminary results need to be confirmed.
1:Experimental Design and Method Selection:
Plants were irradiated with UV-C at different exposition times (10, 30, 60, and 120 min) under controlled conditions. Non-irradiated plants served as controls.
2:Sample Selection and Data Sources:
Seeds of common dandelion and purple coneflower were sterilized and sown in polypropylene plastic pots filled with characterized compost.
3:List of Experimental Equipment and Materials:
UV-C lamp (Helios Italquartz, model G15T8), chlorophyll meter SPAD-502 (Konica Minolta), LI-6400 portable photosynthesis system.
4:Experimental Procedures and Operational Workflow:
Plants were divided into groups based on UV-C irradiation time. Photosynthetic performance, chlorophyll content, and morphologic traits were recorded before, immediately after irradiations, and 20 days later.
5:Data Analysis Methods:
Statistical analysis was performed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) with SAS software.
