Low-level laser therapy affects dentinogenesis and angiogenesis of in vitro 3D cultures of dentin-pulp complex
摘要: To investigate the effects of gallium-aluminum-arsenide (GaAlAs) diode laser low-level laser therapy (LLLT) on angiogenesis and dentinogenesis of the dentin-pulp complex in a human tooth slice-based in vitro model. Forty tooth slices were prepared from 31 human third molars. Slices were cultured at 37 °C, 5% CO2, and 95% humidity and randomly assigned to one of the following groups: group I: no laser treatment, group II: 660-nm diode laser; energy density = 1 J/cm2, group III: 660-nm diode laser; energy density = 3 J/cm2, group IV: 810-nm diode laser; energy density = 1 J/cm2 and group V: 810-nm diode laser; energy density = 3 J/cm2. LLLT was applied on the third and fifth days of culture. After 7 days, tissues were retrieved for real-time RT-PCR analysis to investigate the expression of VEGF, VEGFR2, DSPP, DMP-1, and BSP in respect to controls. Lower energy density (1 J/cm2) with the 660 nm wavelength showed a statistically significant up-regulation of both angiogenic (VEGF: 15.3-folds and VEGFR2: 3.8-folds) and odontogenic genes (DSPP: 6.1-folds, DMP-1: 3-fold, and BSP: 6.7-folds). While the higher energy density (3 J/cm2) with the 810 nm wavelength resulted in statistically significant up-regulation of odontogenic genes (DSPP: 2.5-folds, DMP-1: 17.7-folds, and BSP: 7.1-folds), however, the angiogenic genes had variable results where VEGF was up-regulated while VEGFR2 was down-regulated. Low-level laser therapy could be a useful tool to promote angiogenesis and dentinogenesis of the dentin-pulp complex when parameters are optimized.

Gaussian FRET two-hybrid assays for determining the stoichiometry of hetero-oligomeric complexes in single living cells
摘要: Here we integrate multiple Gaussian-functions analysis into fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) two-hybrid assays (Gaussian FRET two-hybrid assay) to determine the stoichiometric ratios of intracellular hetero-oligomers in single living cells. This method adopts in multiple Gaussian-functions to fit the E-count histograms of both donor- and acceptor-centric FRET efficiency (ED and EA) images of a single cell for obtaining the peak values (EDi and EAi), thus yielding the corresponding stoichiometric ratios (EDi/EAi) of intracellular hetero-oligomers. We performed Gaussian FRET two-hybrid assay for living Hela cells coexpressing different FRET tandem plasmids, and obtained consistent results with the expected values. Gaussian FRET two-hybrid assay for cells coexpressing Bad-CFP and Bcl-XL-YFP reveals that Bcl-XL binds with Bad to form a hetero-oligomeric complex with a stoichiometry of 2:1 on mitochondria.

Photoluminescent porous aerogel monoliths containing ZnEu-complex: the first example of aerogel modified with a heteronuclear metal complex
摘要: A procedure for the chemical immobilization of a new ZnII–EuIII heterobimetallic complex in the SiO2 aerogel matrix has been developed. In this Zn–Eu complex, a peripheral non-luminescent Zn ion acts as a binder to a silica matrix and prevents direct interaction of rare-earth ions with OH? and NH? groups in the silica matrix, which would have a detrimental effect on the luminescence of lanthanides. The procedure includes the synthesis of complexes, co-gelation of the obtained complex with SiO2 sol, the washing of lyogels, and their subsequent supercritical drying in CO2. The composition and properties of the obtained aerogels were investigated using a low-temperature nitrogen adsorption technique, helium pycnometry, FTIR, Raman, UV–visible, and luminescence spectroscopy, XPS, PXRD, SEM, TEM, TGA combined with mass spectrometry, and small-angle neutron scattering. The aerogels modi?ed with the ZnII–EuIII complex demonstrated strong red luminescence upon excitation with UV light.

Long-lived triplet excited state in a platinum( <scp>ii</scp> ) perylene monoimide complex
摘要: We report the synthesis and solution based photophysical properties of a new Pt(II)-terpyridine complex coupled to a perylene monoimide (PMI) chromophoric unit through an acetylene linkage. This structural arrangement resulted in quantitative quenching of the highly fluorescent PMI chromophore by introducing metal character into the lowest energy singlet state, thereby leading to the formation of a long-lived PMI-ligand localized triplet excited state (τ = 8.4 μs). Even though the phosphorescence from this triplet state was not observed, highly efficient quenching of this excited state by dissolved oxygen and the observation of singlet oxygen photoluminescence in the near-IR at 1270 nm initially pointed towards triplet excited state character. Additionally, the coincidence of the excited state absorbance difference spectra from the sensitized PMI ligand using a triplet donor and the Pt-PMI complex provided strong evidence for this triplet state assignment, which was further supported by TD-DFT calculations.

A cyanide-bridged di-manganese carbonyl complex that photochemically reduces CO <sub/>2</sub> to CO
摘要: A cyanide-bridged di-manganese carbonyl complex that photochemically reduces CO2 to CO? Hsin-Ya Kuo, Tia S. Lee, An T. Chu, Steven E. Tignor, Gregory D. Scholes and Andrew B. Bocarsly* Manganese(I) tricarbonyl complexes such as [Mn(bpy)(CO)3L] (L = Br, or CN) are known to be electrocatalysts for CO2 reduction to CO. However, due to their rapid photodegradation under UV and visible light, these monomeric manganese complexes have not been considered as photocatalysts for CO2 reduction without the use of a photosensitizer. In this paper, we report a cyanide-bridged di-manganese complex, {[Mn(bpy)(CO)3]2(μ-CN)}ClO4, which is both electrocatalytic and photochemically active for CO2 reduction to CO. Compared to the [Mn(bpy)(CO)3CN] electrocatalyst, our CN-bridged binuclear complex is a more efficient electrocatalyst for CO2 reduction using H2O as a proton source. In addition, we report a photochemical CO2 reduction to CO using the dimanganese complex under 395 nm irradiation.

Non-radiation creation of complex centers in wide-gap oxide crystals
摘要: It is shown that complex aggregate centers of oxygen divacancy type (F2 centers) and interstitial aluminum type near the anion vacancy (Ali+) are formed in anion-deficient crystals of corundum (α-Al2O3-δ) and beryllium oxide (BeO1-δ) under thermo-optical treatment (TOT). These centers are similar to those created in stoichiometric α-Al2O3 and BeO crystals under neutron irradiation. It is important to note that thermal stability of the TOT-created complex centers is higher than that of similar neutron-induced centers. It is also established that the probability of their formation is related to the temperature of the TOT, the wavelength of the stimulating light, and the initial anionic deficiency manifested as F+ and F centers (anion vacancies with one and two electrons, respectively).

Complex Optical and Thermal Studies on As-Synthesized Conducting Polythiophene
摘要: A series of conducting polythiophene (PTh) samples have been synthesized using an in situ chemical oxidative polymerization technique in aqueous solution. The characterization of the as-synthesized optimized sample has been carried out by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, x-ray diffraction and thermogravimetric–differential thermal analysis techniques. Also, the complex optical parameters of all the as-synthesized polymeric samples have been investigated by using ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy. The as-synthesized polymeric samples exhibited absorption around 220–280 nm. The optical band gap was found to ranges from 5.06 eV to 5.24 eV. The maximum optical conductivity for the sample with a stoichiometric ratio of thiophene to FeCl3 of 70:30 wt.% was found to be 5.973 9 108 S cm?1 at 280 nm. The experimental results reveal that the thermal and optical performance of conducting PTh can be dramatically enhanced for the sample with a stoichiometric ratio of thiophene to FeCl3 of 70:30 wt.%. The improved complex optical properties of as-synthesized samples of conducting PTh validate their potential utilization in optoelectronic devices.

Synthesis, Photophysical and Electroluminescent Properties of Iridium(III) Complexes with 2-Aryl-thiazole and Oxadiazol-substituted Amide Derivative Ligands
摘要: By using aryl-thiazole as cyclometalated ligand and oxadiazol-substituted amide as ancillary ligand, three novel iridium(III) complexes have been synthesized and characterized, and the photophysical and electrochemical properties have been investigated. Complexes 1–3 exhibit efficient phosphorescence emissions at 542, 555 and 585 nm with photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQYs) of 0.04, 0.03 and 0.02 in CH3CN solutions, respectively. In the 10 wt% doped 2,4-diphenyl-6-bis(12-phenylindolo)[2,3-a]carbazole-11-yl)-1,3,5-triazine (Dictrz) film, the PLQYs (0.88 for complex 1, 0.47 for complex 2 and 0.37 for complex 3) increase significantly owing to the great restriction of rotations and vibrations in rigid host. The organic light-emitting diodes based on these complexes show good performance with the maximum current efficiencies of 20.06, 22.20 and 13.45 cd A-1 and maximum power efficiencies of 13.54, 17.31 and 9.48 lm W?1 with the CIE coordinates of (0.46, 0.53), (0.49, 0.50) and (0.59, 0.40) for complexes 1?3, respectively.

Homogeneous immunoassay for alpha-fetoprotein based on the quenching of the fluorescence of quantum dots by antibody labelled with complexed copper ion tags
摘要: A homogeneous fluorescent immunoassay is described for the determination of alpha fetoprotein (AFP) relying on the interaction between copper ion complex and quantum dots (QDs). The copper ion complex-labelled antibody can be employed as a quencher of fluorescence of QDs and capture probe of AFP in homogeneous solution. The labelled antibody is mixed with QDs to form the immune ensemble probe. Upon the addition of AFP, the labelled antibody is stripped away from QDs by antigen-antibody combination leading to the increase in the fluorescence signal. Thus, the determination of AFP can be realized by fluorometry (best measured at excitation/emission wavelengths of 360/520 nm). The fluorescence intensity shows a good linear relationship with the AFP concentration ranging from 40 to 640 ng mL?1, and the LOD is 26 ng mL?1. The proposed method provides a new approach to incorporate metal complexes into QD-based biomolecule sensing.

Structural, photophysical and electrochemical properties of a novel cardanol-based salophen ligand and its Mn(II) complex
摘要: A new cardanol-based salophen (hpbp) ligand and its manganese complex [Mn(hpbp)] were obtained by microwave-assisted synthesis method, with yields and reaction times of 65% in 20 min and 85% in 5min, respectively. The structural features of compounds were confirmed by electronic (UV-vis and fluorescence), infrared and NMR (1H, 13C) spectroscopic techniques. The photophysical study of the ligand showed ketoenamine-enolimine tautomeric equilibrium, which was discussed based on the excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) mechanism and was dependent on the solvent, concentration and molecular structure. The energy of the HOMO and LUMO orbitals (-5.41 and -2.12 eV, respectively), determinated by cyclic voltammetry and UV-Vis, the energy was very close to the values determined by the theoretical calculations. The studies revealed that the hpbp is a tetradentate ligand bonded to the metal ion by phenolic oxygens and by azomethine nitrogens. Therefore, this work contributes to the science of salophen compounds, in addition to stimulating the synthesis of new ligands from renewable sources for the coordination chemistry.
