    摘要: Tracking multiple vehicles in optical satellite videos can be achieved by detecting vehicles in individual frames and then link detections across frames. This is challenging since the low spatial resolution of satellite videos would lead to miss or partial detections. Failure in consistently detecting an identical vehicle would terminate a trajectory for loss of identity, or reinitialize a new trajectory for re-detection. Both would result in fragmented tracklets for an identical vehicle. In this paper, we propose a two-step global data association approach for multiple target tracking, which first generates local tracklets then merges them to global trajectories. In order to handle the frequent terminals of tracklets caused by the miss or partial detections, the spatial grid flow model has been extended to temporal neighboring grids to cover the possible connectivities in a wider temporal neighboring, so that the detection association could match temporal-unlinked detections. In the tracklet association model, we customize a tracklet transition probability based on Kalman Filter to link tracklets with large temporal intervals. A near-optimal solution to the proposed two-step association problem is found by Bilevel K-shortest Paths Optimization. Experiments on a satellite video show that our approach improves both detection and tracking performance of moving vehicles.

    摘要: Supervoxels are perceptually meaningful atomic spatio-temporal regions in videos, which has great potential to reduce the computational complexity of downstream video applications. Many methods have been proposed for generating supervoxels. To effectively evaluate these methods, a novel supervoxel library and benchmark called LIBSVX with seven collected metrics was recently established. In this paper, we propose a new compactness metric which measures the shape regularity of supervoxels and is served as a necessary complement to the existing metrics. To demonstrate its necessity, we first explore the relations between the new metric and existing ones. Correlation analysis shows that the new metric has a weak correlation with (i.e., nearly independent of) existing metrics, and so reflects a new characteristic of supervoxel quality. Second, we investigate two real-world video applications. Experimental results show that the new metric can effectively predict some important application performance, while most existing metrics cannot do so.

  • Evaluation of tear meniscus dimensions using anterior segment optical coherence tomography in video terminal display workers

    摘要: Background: To evaluate tear meniscus height and tear meniscus area measured by optical coherence tomography (OCT) and to determine the prevalence of dry eye disease in video display terminal (VDT) users. Methods: This was a case–control study performed on VDT users. The case group consisted of 53 subjects who vocationally use VDT more than six hours per day and the control group consisted of 49 subjects who used VDT not more than one hour per day. The pre-vocational and post-vocational tear meniscus height and tear meniscus area measurements were performed twice in one day using OCT. Tear-film break-up time, Schirmer’s test, Ocular Surface Disease Index score and corneal staining score measurements were performed in all subjects. Results: The mean age was 38.9 (cid:1) 5.5 years in VDT users and 37.8 (cid:1) 5.8 years in the control group (p = 0.426). Twenty patients (37.7 per cent) had dry eye disease in VDT users and five patients (10.2 per cent) had dry eye disease in the control group (p = 0.001). The mean tear meniscus height and tear meniscus area values (pre-vocational and post-vocational) were significantly lower in VDT users than in the control group (p < 0.001, p < 0.001, p = 0.024 and p < 0.001, respectively). The Schirmer’s test results, Ocular Surface Disease Index scores, corneal staining scores and tear-film break-up time values revealed significant differences between VDT users and control subjects (p = 0.002, p = 0.006, p < 0.001 and p < 0.001, respectively). In addition, significant correlations were demonstrated between Schirmer’s test results, Ocular Surface Disease Index scores, corneal staining scores, tear-film break-up time measurements, tear meniscus height results and tear meniscus area values. Conclusion: Tear meniscus evaluation using OCT is an effective, non-invasive and sensitive method for detection of dry eye disease in VDT users.

  • Imaging-guided thoracoscopic resection of a ground-glass opacity lesion in a hybrid operating room equipped with a robotic C-arm CT system

    摘要: The intraoperative identification of small pulmonary nodules through video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery remains challenging. Although preoperative CT-guided nodule localization is commonly used to detect tumors during video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS), this approach carries inherent risks. We report the case of a patient with stage I lung cancer presenting as an area of ground-glass opacity (GGO) in the right upper pulmonary lobe. He successfully underwent a single-stage, CT-guided localization and removal of the pulmonary nodule within a hybrid operating room (OR) equipped with a robotic C-arm.

  • Impact of near-infrared angiography on the quality of anatomical resection during video-assisted thoracic surgery segmentectomy

    摘要: Background: The aim of the present study was to assess the impact of near-infrared angiography in guiding intraoperatively sublobar anatomical resection by video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS). Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data from 67 patients who underwent segmentectomy by VATS from November 2014 to November 2017 at the University Hospitals of Geneva, Switzerland. The need to modify arterial or parenchymal resection based on intraoperative near-infrared imaging was considered the primary study outcome. Results: A total of 67 patients (28 men, 39 women, mean age 66±10 years) underwent anatomical pulmonary segmentectomy by VATS. Histological analysis revealed a primary lung tumor in 59 patients. The mean ± standard deviation (SD) operation time was 154±51 minutes. Identification of the intersegmental plane (ISP) with near-infrared angiography was achieved in 88% of patients and led to modification of the resection during segmentectomy in 7 patients (10%), avoiding inappropriate resection; 2 patients had distant tumor recurrences (3%). Conclusions: Near-infrared angiography during VATS segmentectomy is effective for identifying ISPs, with respect to the oncological margins, as well as for correcting the anatomical resection.

  • The feasibility of electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopic localization with fluorescence and radiocontrast dyes for video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery resection

    摘要: Recently, some groups have reported the utilization of electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy (ENB) for localization of pulmonary lesion. Its application for intraoperative visual localization with dyes to determine the target area has been increasing. In this paper, we reviewed the feasibility of ENB utilization for video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) or robotic sublobar resection as a localization tool, and its future application in minimally invasive thoracic surgery.

  • Innovative surgical endoscopes in video-assisted thoracic surgery

    摘要: In the past three decades, rod lens endoscopes had facilitated the development and wide spread applications of video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS). With the rise of uniportal VATS in recent years, innovations in surgical instruments should once again complement the advancement in surgical technique. While articulated flexible endoscopes have expand the field of view, and can alter viewing direction with minimal maneuvers, they still suffer from problems like trocar crowding and interference with other instruments. Magnetic anchored endoscopes, on the other hand, may provide unique benefits to VATS by replacing the endoscope rigid rod body with magnetic linkage, thus overcoming the challenge of port crowding in single incision surgery. Most magnetic anchored endoscopes reported in literature are not designed for thoracic surgeries. Many of these designs do not allow tilting of endoscopic view, rely on micromotors for actuation, or are ergonomically unfit to be operated within the spatial constraints seen in VATS application. Considering these limitations, we have designed two novel magnetic anchored and steered endoscopes targeted for uniportal VATS. Both designs could be wirelessly actuated by magnetic interaction. One has a silicone rubber formed soft body for compactness, lightweight and safety, while another is a 40 mm long capsule optimized for VATS spatial constraints.

  • Analysis for an Improved Nanomechanical Microcantilever Sensor on Optical Waveguides

    摘要: We announce a new video quality model (VQM) that accounts for the perceptual impact of variable frame delays (VFD) in videos with demonstrated top performance on the laboratory for image and video engineering (LIVE) mobile video quality assessment (VQA) database. This model, called VQM_VFD, uses perceptual features extracted from spatial-temporal blocks spanning fixed angular extents and a long edge detection filter. VQM_VFD predicts video quality by measuring multiple frame delays using perception based parameters to track subjective quality over time. In the performance analysis of VQM_VFD, we evaluated its efficacy at predicting human opinions of visual quality. A detailed correlation analysis and statistical hypothesis testing show that VQM_VFD accurately predicts human subjective judgments and substantially outperforms top-performing image quality assessment and VQA models previously tested on the LIVE mobile VQA database. VQM_VFD achieved the best performance on the mobile and tablet studies of the LIVE mobile VQA database for simulated compression, wireless packet-loss, and rate adaptation, but not for temporal dynamics. These results validate the new model and warrant a hard release of the VQM_VFD algorithm. It is freely available for any purpose, commercial, or noncommercial at http://www.its.bldrdoc.gov/vqm/.

    摘要: The Range Extensions (RExt) of the High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) standard have recently been approved by both ITU-T and ISO/IEC. This set of extensions targets video coding applications in areas including content acquisition, postproduction, contribution, distribution, archiving, medical imaging, still imaging, and screen content. In addition to the functionality of HEVC Version 1, RExt provide support for monochrome, 4:2:2, and 4:4:4 chroma sampling formats as well as increased sample bit depths beyond 10 bits per sample. This extended functionality includes new coding tools with a view to provide additional coding efficiency, greater flexibility, and throughput at high bit depths/rates. Improved lossless, near-lossless, and very high bit-rate coding is also a part of the RExt scope. This paper presents the technical aspects of HEVC RExt, including a discussion of RExt profiles, tools, applications, and provides experimental results for a performance comparison with previous relevant coding technology. When compared with the High 4:4:4 Predictive Profile of H.264/Advanced Video Coding (AVC), the corresponding HEVC 4:4:4 RExt profile provides up to ~25%, ~32%, and ~36% average bit-rate reduction at the same PSNR quality level for intra, random access, and low delay configurations, respectively.

    摘要: Predicting the popularity of online videos is an important task for the service design, advertisement placement, network management, and so on. In this paper, we tackle the challenge head-on by casting the popularity prediction problem into two consecutive tasks: online video future popularity level prediction and online video future view count prediction. We first predict the future popularity levels of online videos, based on a rich set of features and effective classification technique. Then, according to the popularity level transitions, we build specialized regression models to predict the future view count values. We validate our approach on the exhaustive dataset of a leading online video service provider in China, namely, Youku. The experimental results show that comparing with two state-of-the-art baseline models, our proposed method can significantly decrease the relative prediction errors of 32.25% and 19.82%, respectively. At last, we also discuss the model setup and feature importance of our method. We believe our work can provide direct help in practical for the interested parties of online video service, such as service providers, online advisers, and network operators.
