Deep sedation for laser treatment of cutaneous vascular anomalies in children
摘要: Pulse laser treatment is useful for aesthetic improvement in children with capillary vascular malformation and residual superficial haemangiomas. However, pulse laser treatment is painful, and repeated procedures are usually required to achieve a satisfactory clinical result. Evidence shows that analgesia in children undergoing pulse laser treatment may vary from general anaesthesia to no treatment at all. This report describes our institutional experience with deep sedation in children with capillary vascular malformation, undergoing laser pulse treatment.

USING PHOTOPLETHYSMOGRAPHY IMAGING FOR OBJECTIVE CONTACTLESS PAIN ASSESSMENT
摘要: This work presents an extension to the known Analgesia Nociception Index (ANI), which provides an objective estimation of the current depth of analgesia. An adequate “measure” would facilitate so-called balanced anesthesia. Generally, ANI is computed using heart rate variability or rather beat-to-beat intervals based on an electrocardiogram (ECG). There are clinical situations where no ECG monitoring is available or required, but only photoplethysmography (PPG), e.g., in some cases in postoperative care or pain therapy. In addition, a combination of PPG and ECG for obtaining beat-to-beat intervals may lead to increased robustness and reliability for dealing with artifacts. This work therefore investigates the computation of ANI using standard PPG. In addition, new methods and opportunities are presented using contactless PPG imaging (PPGI). PPGI?enables contactless PPG recordings for deriving beat-to-beat intervals as well as analysis of local perfusion and wounds.

Application of Laser Phoresis in Complicated Postmenopausal Osteoporosis
摘要: This study presents postmenopausal osteoporosis as a feature of metabolic systemic diseases of the skeleton, with abnormalities of the bone microarchitecture and reduction in bone mineral density, leading to an increased risk of fractures with a low level of trauma. The neurological manifestations of such fractures are uncharacteristic, representing a differential diagnostic indication. There is a change of posture in the form of hyperkyphosis of the thoracic spine and loss of height due to the increase in the number of modified vertebrae. The age of these patients is between 66 and 68 years, which limits the use of traditional analgesic preparations. The ionized gel ‘Giasulf’ was applied in 29 cases according to the developed technology. The description of the composition of the gel that provides maximum analgesic effect, reinforced by the influence of laser radiation on the cell membranes, is presented. A significant antinociceptive effect was obtained.

Low-level laser therapy improves pain in postcesarean section: a randomized clinical trial
摘要: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) on immediate postpartum pain relief during cesarean section. A randomized, parallel controlled trial was carried out. In total, 88 women with immediate postpartum were divided into 4 groups: control group (n = 22), placebo group (n = 22), experimental group I (n = 22, dose of 4 J/cm2), and experimental group II (n = 22, dose of 2 J/cm2). The pain measured by Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), algometry, and Global Change Perception Scale (GCPS) was assessed at 12, 20–24, and 44–48 h postpartum. Two LLLT sessions were performed at 12 and 24 h postpartum. A significant interaction was observed between time versus group for NRS F (2.40) = 36.80, p < 0.001 and algometry F (1.70) = 27.18, p < 0.001. GCPS revealed a significant difference between the groups during second (p = 0.04) and third evaluation (p = 0.04). The NRS and algometry presented a large effect size for the experimental groups. LLLT is an efficient method to reduce pain and enhance the GCP in postcesarean section. No significant clinical differences were found between the laser doses.
