  • Luminescence and anion recognition performance of mononuclear Eu(III) complexes with N- and O- donor pyridine derivatives

    摘要: A series of Eu(III) complexes with pyridine-2-carboxamide (PCA), pyridine-2-carboxaldoxime (PCAO), pyridine-2,3-dicarboxylic anhydride (PDCA) or pyridine-2-methanol (PM) as primary ligands and 4,4′-dimethoxy-2,2′-bipyridine (DMBP) as ancillary ligand were synthesized. The interaction between the ligands and complexes were confirmed by FT-IR study. The complexes were abbreviated as [Eu(PCA)3DMBP].Cl3 (C1), [Eu(PCAO)3DMBP].Cl3 (C2), [Eu(PDCA)3DMBP].Cl3 (C3) and [Eu(PM)3DMBP].Cl3 (C4). Optical studies were done by UV–vis spectroscopy and PL spectroscopy. The highest intrinsic luminescent quantum yield (53.42%) and lifetime value (1456 μs) were found for C3. Lowest quantum yield was exhibited by C2. Anion sensing studies of all the complexes were done by UV–vis and PL spectroscopy and it was observed that complex C1 showed remarkable change in optical properties upon addition of F? and HSO4? ions. Thus C1 can be used as optical sensor for F? and HSO4? ions. The FQD for F? and HSO4? ions were found to be 6.55 and 3.58 respectively for C1.

  • Luminescence properties of a family of lanthanide metal-organic frameworks

    摘要: Two isostructural series of lanthanide metal-organic frameworks denoted as SUMOF-7II (Ln) and SUMOF-7IIB (Ln) ( Ln = La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, and Gd) were synthesized using4,4',4''-(pyridine-2,4,6-triyl)tris(benzoic acid) (H3L2) and a mixture of H3L2 and 4,4′,4′′-(benzene-1,3,5-triyl)tris(benzoic acid) (H3BTB) as linkers, respectively. Both series were characterized usingpowder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermal analysis (TGA), and photoluminescence spectroscopy. Photoluminescence measurements show that Eu-MOFs demonstrate a red emission while Pr- and Nd-MOFs display an emission in the near-infrared (NIR) range. On the other hand, La-, Ce-, Sm- and Gd-MOFs exhibit only a ligand-centered emission. The average luminescence lifetimes in the SUMOF-7IIBseries are 1.3-1.4-fold longer than the corresponding ones in the SUMOF-7II series. SUMOF-7IIs show a good photo- and thermal stability. Altogether, the properties of SUMOF-7II and SUMOF-7IIB render them promising materials for applications including sensing, biosensing, and telecommunications.

  • Tunable luminescence modulation and warm light emission of Zn-MOF (4,4′-bipyridyl and zinc acetate) doped with Eu3+ and Tb3+

    摘要: Herein, we describe the synthesis and doping of Zn-MOF (4,4’-bipyridyl and zinc acetate), crystallographic structure, optical properties of heteronuclear coordination polymers with emission in the visible (Eu3+/Tb3+ and Zn-MOF). The MOF presents a linear structure in the form of a nanotube. Density functional theory (DFT) and time dependent-DFT calculations were performed on the ground and excited states of Zn-MOF to provide insight of geometries, frontier molecular orbitals, and singlet and triplet state energies of the polymer. The metal-organic framework was doped with Eu3+ or Tb3+ in different proportions (Eu0.5-nTbn@Zn-MOF, when n= 0.00, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15, …, 0.5). The doped Zn-MOFs exhibit the typical red and green emission corresponding to Eu3+ and Tb3+ ions, respectively, energy transfer from MOF to metal ions takes place (“antenna effect”). It is noteworthy that the emission color of the lanthanides doped Zn-MOFs changes from red to orange-yellow-green depending on the proportion between Eu3+ and Tb3+. These compounds presented a τ ranging from 1.29 to 1.62 and 1.06-1.56 ms for Eu3+ and Tb3+, respectively, and the corresponding absolute quantum yields values range from 38-61%.
