  • Cotton fabric finished by PANI/TiO2 with multifunctions of conductivity, anti-ultraviolet and photocatalysis activity

    摘要: Polyaniline/titanium dioxide (PANI/TiO2) were co-doped with sulfosalicylic (SSA) and sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS) and then deposited onto the surface of cotton fabrics in one-step in-situ polymerization. PANI/TiO2 composites were confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectrum (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), while the surface morphologies of the cotton fabrics were observed by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). The conductivity of prepared PANI/TiO2/cotton composites was measured by four-probe method and results showed that it decreased slightly with the increase of TiO2 concentration. The conductivity would be up to 8.8 S/cm at concentration of TiO2 4 g/L. The UPF value of PANI/TiO2/cotton composites was significantly enhanced, even if after washing for 10 times. The photocatalytic results showed that absorption and degradation efficiency of PANI/TiO2/cotton composites to rhodamine B (RHB) could reach up to 87.67%, which might be due to the synergistic effects of PANI and TiO2.

  • Novel anti-ultraviolet performances of thin films polyurethane containing nano-mixed oxides CeO <sub/>2</sub> -TiO <sub/>2</sub>

    摘要: The nano-mixed oxides CeO2-TiO2 was synthesized by gel combustion method using polyvinyl alcohol as fuel and mixtures of titanium trichloride and cerium(IV) nitrate at a relatively low calcination temperature of 550°C for 2 h. The prepared CeO2-TiO2 nanoparticles with a specific area of 65.70 m2 g-1 were dispersed in polyurethane matrix in different concentration conditions from 0.0 to 1.5 wt% to study ultraviolet durability following HONDA HES D 6501-97 standards. After 400 h of testing in the QUV accelerate weathering tester, the thin film containing 1 wt% CeO2-TiO2 nano-mixed oxides has presented the noticeable capacity for absorbing ultraviolet light by only 6.8 g.u change in specular gloss at 60° and DE = 3.66 in color difference.

  • Mechanisms underlying the protective effects of blueberry extract against ultraviolet radiation in a skin cell co-culture system

    摘要: Ultraviolet radiation induces skin damage, inflammation, and aging. To explore the protective effects of blueberry extract (BE) against ultraviolet-C (UV-C) radiation, we analysed human skin keratinocyte (HaCaT) and human foreskin fibroblast (HFF) cells alone or in a co-culture, treated or not with BE, after exposure to UV-C. Surprisingly, MMP-1 was significantly up-regulated in HFF cells and in the co-cultured cell group in response to UV-C irradiation (8 mJ/cm2), but not in HaCaT cells. As expected, BE had a significantly protective effects; it decreased DNA fragmentation and inhibited MMP-1 and inflammatory factors expression in response to UV-C radiation. In addition, BE reduced the accumulation of proteins (MMP-1, c-fos, and c-jnu) in the MAPK (mitogen-activated protein kinase) pathway after UV-C radiation. Taken together, these results showed that BE exerted a protective effect against UV-C irradiation, and modulated MMP-1 production through MAPK signalling by direct and indirect pathways in HaCaT and HFF cells.
