    摘要: This paper is aimed to provide a novel approach for an auto-scaling mechanism that are applied in the ICT converged cross stratum orchestration (CSO) architecture. CSO refers to an end-to-end orchestration across Application orchestration, Data Center SDN orchestration, and WAN SDN orchestration so that applications can be created seamlessly and optimally for operators and their customers. The auto-scaling mechanism presented in this paper is built on active monitoring of both DC compute/storage/network resources and DCI Transport network resources and then provides dynamically configurable auto-scaling and resource re-allocation. This mechanism will help tremendously the operators to control and manage their networks in an automated fashion.

    摘要: The present work develops an automatic system that allows the counting and the measuring of a population of gray tilapia fingerlings. At the present, the processes for calculate the geometric dimensions of the fish, have a great subjectivity and spend a lot of time. In addition, the fingerling could be stressed because they are removed from the water, which it could lead to it searches to eradicate the manual death. In this way, intervention, thus a mechanical piece is elaborated which holds two fish tanks and an enclosure with illumination. A transfer of little by little of fingerlings from the first to the second container is carried out, for this purpose the grids, controlled by motors, are used to bring them closer or move them away from the orifice of the first container. Also, a pneumatic electric ball valve is used, which works as a gate that allows or forbid the passage of the fingerlings through the PVC pipe. Then, with the fingerlings in the enclosure, it proceeds to execute the counting and measuring algorithms. Satisfactory results were obtained because it has an accuracy of 97% in counting, 92% and 90% in length and width measuring respectively, endorsed by specialists. In addition, the time for the calculation of both parameters were reduced in comparison to the manual.

  • Programmable Flow Rate Scanner for Evaluating Detector Sensitivity Regime

    摘要: In order to expedite characterization of on-line detection systems, we have developed a flow rate scanner comprising a pump, an inexpensive single-board computer, and an associated Python program. The program controls the pump, triggers the detector, acquires raw data, filters/smooths the data, calculates the first derivative of the temporal signal trend, and determines the sensitivity regime threshold in real time. The slope of the curve relating the detector response with the sample flow rate is used to determine the sensitivity regime for a given analyte and a given detector. The key part of the data analysis is on-the-fly calculation of the first derivatives using a fourth-order polynomial fit to the raw data by the Savitzky-Golay algorithm. The device has been tested by determining the flow rate profiles for an ultraviolet absorption detector and a mass spectrometer operated with electrospray ionization, atmospheric pressure chemical ionization, and a dual ion source. The sensitivity regime thresholds for various test analytes have been determined automatically and robustly in time as short as a few minutes.

  • Evaluation of in-line particle measurement with an SFT-probe as monitoring tool for process automation using a new time-based buffer approach

    摘要: The Process Analytical Technology (PAT) initiative published by the Food and Drug administration (FDA) describes PAT systems as important tools to optimize pharmaceutical processes in order to ensure the final product quality. Real-time particle size measurements provide a promising approach for process automation of fluid bed granulation processes. This work focuses on the introduction and evaluation of a new time-based buffer approach for in-line spatial filtering technique (SFT) in order to provide a minimum time delay of the real-time measurement. Comparing the new buffer system to the conventionally used number-based approach, a reduced influence of the particle rate and a constant response time was found. A performance qualification of the Parsum probe IPP 80 using this buffer approach according to the ICH guideline Q2 was performed to investigate whether common variations of process parameters influence the real-time particle size measurement. Focussing on the main requirements for process control, hereby a good precision and specificity as well as an adequate robustness was found. Summarized, this study identified the time-based buffer system as more suitable buffer system for process automation.

  • Securing Color Fidelity in 3D Architectural Heritage Scenarios

    摘要: Ensuring color ?delity in image-based 3D modeling of heritage scenarios is nowadays still an open research matter. Image colors are important during the data processing as they affect algorithm outcomes, therefore their correct treatment, reduction and enhancement is fundamental. In this contribution, we present an automated solution developed to improve the radiometric quality of an image datasets and the performances of two main steps of the photogrammetric pipeline (camera orientation and dense image matching). The suggested solution aims to achieve a robust automatic color balance and exposure equalization, stability of the RGB-to-gray image conversion and faithful color appearance of a digitized artifact. The innovative aspects of the article are: complete automation, better color target detection, a MATLAB implementation of the ACR scripts created by Fraser and the use of a speci?c weighted polynomial regression. A series of tests are presented to demonstrate the ef?ciency of the developed methodology and to evaluate color accuracy (‘color characterization’).

    摘要: A highly informative methodology, the essence of which is to obtain the parameters of an object under study by means of the data synchronous acquisition from several measurement channels, predominantly based on different physical principles, infrared thermography (IRT) as a leading research tool included in such a multichannel (multimodal) measuring system is considered in some detail. The IRT-aided multichannel approach is demonstrated with studying the physiological characteristics in humans. The measurement synchronism of different technical means is realized by the computerization and automation of the experiment. The programmable microcontroller ESP32 served as main operating and readout unit. With a time resolution of 100-200 measurements per second, the experimental data were obtained. It made it possible to reveal the human physiological characteristics as follows: the extremities temperature change, pulse waves and their velocity in the radial artery, breathing dynamics, blood pressure evaluated in two different regimes of brachial cuff air filling – inflation and deflation. The brachial cuff inflation also served as external interventional impact on the organism. It is found that, after the brachial artery cross-clamping, the pulse wave velocity in the radial artery is capable of doubling in comparison with that measured before compression. It is shown that the multimodal technology is a promising means in modern experimental science.

  • The HST/WFC3 Quicklook Project: A User Interface to Hubble Space Telescope Wide Field Camera 3 Data

    摘要: The Hubble Space Telescope’s Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) instrument, comprised of two detectors, UVIS (Ultraviolet-Visible) and IR (Infrared), has been acquiring ~50-100 images daily since its installation in 2009. The WFC3 Quicklook project provides a means for instrument analysts to store, calibrate, monitor, and interact with these data through the various Quicklook systems: (1) a ~175 TB ?lesystem, which stores the entire WFC3 archive on disk, (2) a MySQL database, which stores image header data, (3) a Python-based automation platform, which currently executes 22 unique calibration/monitoring scripts, (4) a Python-based code library, which provides system functionality such as logging, downloading tools, database connection objects, and ?lesystem management, and (5) a Python/Flask-based web interface to the Quicklook system. The Quicklook project has enabled large-scale WFC3 analyses and calibrations, such as the monitoring of the health and stability of the WFC3 instrument, the measurement of ~20 million WFC3/UVIS Point Spread Functions (PSFs), the creation of WFC3/IR persistence calibration products, and many others.

  • Distinguishing Refracted Features using Light Field Cameras with Application to Structure from Motion

    摘要: To be effective, robots will need to reliably operate in scenes with refractive objects in a variety of applications; however, refractive objects can cause many robotic vision algorithms, such as structure from motion, to become unreliable or even fail. We propose a novel method to distinguish between refracted and Lambertian image features using a light field camera. While previous refracted feature detection methods are limited to light field cameras with large baselines relative to the refractive object, our method achieves comparable performance, and we extend these capabilities to light field cameras with much smaller baselines than previously considered, where we achieve up to 50% higher refracted feature detection rates. Specifically, we propose to use textural cross correlation to characterize apparent feature motion in a single light field, and compare this motion to its Lambertian equivalent based on 4-D light field geometry. For structure from motion, we demonstrate that rejecting refracted features using our distinguisher yields lower reprojection error, lower failure rates, and more accurate pose estimates when the robot is approaching refractive objects. Our method is a critical step toward allowing robots to operate in the presence of refractive objects.

  • Nanopillar-Assisted SERS Chromatography

    摘要: Practical implementation of surfaced enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) sensing is hindered by complexity of real-life samples, which often requires long and costly pretreatment and purification. Here, we present a novel nanopillar-assisted SERS chromatography (NPC-SERS) method for simultaneous quantitation of target molecules and analysis of complex, multicomponent fluids, e.g., human urine spiked with a model drug paracetamol (PAR). Gold-coated silicon nanopillar (AuNP) SERS substrates and a centrifugal microfluidic platform are tactfully combined, which allows (i) a precise and fully automated sample manipulation and (ii) spatial separation of different molecular species on the AuNP substrate. The NPC-SERS technique provides a novel approach for wetting the stationary phase (AuNP) using the “wicking effect”, and thus minimizes dilution of analytes. Separation of PAR and the main human urine components (urea, uric acid, and creatinine) has been demonstrated. Quantitative detection of PAR with ultrawide linear dynamic range (0?500 ppm) is achieved by analyzing the spreading profiles of PAR on the AuNP surface. NPC-SERS transforms SERS into a sensing technique with general applicability, facilitating rapid and quantitative detection of analytes in complex biofluids, such as saliva, blood, and urine.
