Transparent dual-band monopole antenna using a μ-metal mesh on the rear glass of an automobile for frequency modulation/digital media broadcasting service receiving
摘要: A transparent dual-band monopole (Inverted-F) antenna using a micro-metal mesh film (μ-MMF) designed on the rear glass of an automobile (Hyundai K5) is presented. This design allows the optically transparent antenna to be installed in a wider space, thus overcoming the space limitation typically posed by roof-mounted shark-fin antennas. It can also reasonably solve the problem of low reception sensitivity and radiation interference from antennas operating in other service bands. The antenna is a combination of two simple monopoles operating in the frequency modulation (FM) (88–108 MHz) and the digital media broadcasting (DMB) (174–216 MHz) service bands. Measured reflection coefficients (S11) of the transparent antenna using μ-MMF are under ?6 dB (VSWR 3:1) in both the bands, and the radiation pattern shows directive patterns to the outward direction from the car; the average peak gains in the XY plane are 1.1 dB in the FM service band and 8.8 dB in the DMB service band.

Functional requirements of automotive head-up displays: A systematic review of literature from 1994 to present
摘要: Despite the long history of automotive head-up displays (HUDs), what information they should display in different situations to best serve the driver remains unanswered. The lack of understanding hinders designing useful automotive HUD systems. In an effort to address this, the current study investigated the developer, researcher and user perspectives on the functional requirements of automotive HUDs through literature review. The review results indicated that: 1) the existing commercial HUDs perform largely the same functions as the conventional in-vehicle displays, 2) past research studies proposed various HUD functions for improving driver situation awareness and driving safety, 3) autonomous driving and other new technologies are giving rise to new HUD information, and 4) little research is currently available on HUD users’ perceived information needs. Based on the review results, this study provides insights into the functional requirements of automotive HUDs and also suggests some future research directions for automotive HUD design.

Optical coordinate measurements in automotive industry
摘要: Photogrammetry is a technique of measuring 3D coordinates using photography as the main medium of metrology. This paper describes the use of the photogrammetric system in the automotive industry for control and measuring tasks. This contactless method is suitable for industrial application, because the measuring instruments are robust and mobile, so precise measurements are possible in production conditions. Presented results of measurements show that the optical measuring systems are powerful tools for quality control, analysis and discovering of causes of faults.

摘要: This work provides Antenna in package (AiP) implemented on Advanced single sided substrates (aS3 package) , which utilizes low-cost substrate and low-cost assembly process. The dipole antenna implemented on aS3 package results in a peak gain of 5 dBi at operating frequency band. The return loss of < - 10 dB bandwidth is from 65 to 81 GHz. The resonant rectangular series-fed patch array implemented on aS3 package results in a peak gain of 8 dBi at operating frequency band. The return loss of < - 10 dB bandwidth is from 76 to 81 GHz. The antenna performance of antenna on aS3 package meets the requirements of 77 GHz automotive radar systems. This work also discuss with the impact of fabrication inaccuracies on the antenna bandwidth and gain. For 77 GHz automotive radar application, the corner analysis of process variation supports correct antenna performance and a short time to market.

Hand Gesture Recognition in Automotive Human–Machine Interaction Using Depth Cameras
摘要: In this review, we describe current Machine Learning approaches to hand gesture recognition with depth data from time-of-flight sensors. In particular, we summarise the achievements on a line of research at the Computational Neuroscience laboratory at the Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences. Relating our results to the work of others in this field, we confirm that Convolutional Neural Networks and Long Short-Term Memory yield most reliable results. We investigated several sensor data fusion techniques in a deep learning framework and performed user studies to evaluate our system in practice. During our course of research, we gathered and published our data in a novel benchmark dataset (REHAP), containing over a million unique three-dimensional hand posture samples.

77-GHz mmWave antenna array on liquid crystal polymer for automotive radar and RF front-end module
摘要: This paper introduces a low‐cost, high‐performance mmWave antenna array module at 77 GHz. Conventional waveguide transitions have been replaced by 3D CPW‐microstrip transitions which are much simpler to realize. They are compatible with low‐cost substrate fabrication processes, allowing easy integration of ICs in 3D multi‐chip modules. An antenna array is designed and implemented using multilayer coupled‐fed patch antenna technology. The proposed 16 × 16 array antenna has a fractional bandwidth of 8.4% (6.5 GHz) and a 23.6‐dBi realized gain at 77 GHz.

摘要: A novel target azimuth estimation algorithm called "MIMO-Monopulse" is proposed by combining monopulse approach with multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar. Chebyshev and Zolotarev weighting are applied to synthesis sum and difference pattern of MIMO-monopulse. A new visualization method for monopulse ratio is discussed. Finally, the proposed algorithm is veri?ed successfully by processing real data from a 79 GHz FMCW automotive radar.

摘要: On the way to Highly Automated Driving (HAD), new conditions for sensors used in vehicles arise. To achieve a highly accurate environmental perception the resolution of radar sensors has to be increased. Only with ?ne grained sensor information, is possible to maneuver safely and highly automated at all road conditions in urban and rural surroundings. A prototypical implementation of such a sensor, which ful?lls all these requirements, is presented in the following as automotive 4D radar. The relevant parts of the baseband signal processing are explained in combination with the used modulation waveform. A new antenna array arrangement is introduced which provides the ability to measure angles in both azimuth and elevation. To estimate the two angles of arrival a method which performs this in combination is exempli?ed. First measurements with a cyclist are recorded and show a radial speed enhanced 3D radar image. The ?rst results are extremely promising. For validation of the measured data, also a simulation of the same scenario with identical system parameters is performed and shown.

摘要: The main limitation for the practical implementation of OFDM radars is the required high sampling rate of AD/DA converters. It can be solved by using a stepped-carrier OFDM scheme. Thereby, the same range and Doppler resolution is obtained as for a standard OFDM scheme at the cost of a reduced unambiguously measurable velocity. This paper presents a method to determine the actual velocity even for targets that violate the unambiguous velocity limitation. It is based on characteristics of the DFT and it is suitable for scenes with few targets or if all targets have a similar velocity.
