Three-dimensional view of out-of-plane artifacts in photoacoustic imaging using a laser-integrated linear-transducer-array probe
摘要: Research on photoacoustic imaging (PAI) using a handheld integrated photoacoustic probe has been a recent focus of clinical translation of this imaging technique. One of the remaining challenges is the occurrence of out-of-plane artifacts (OPAs) in such a probe. Previously, we proposed a method to identify and remove OPAs by axially displacing the transducer array. Here we show that besides the benefit of removing OPAs from the imaging plane, the proposed method can provide a three-dimensional (3D) view of the OPAs. In this work, we present a 3D reconstruction method using axial transducer array displacement. By axially displacing the transducer array, out-of-plane absorbers can be three-dimensionally visualized at an elevation distance of up to the acquired imaging depth. Additionally, OPAs in the in-plane image are significantly reduced. We experimentally demonstrate the method with phantom and in vivo experiments using an integrated PAI probe. We also compare the method with elevational transducer array displacement and take into account the sensitivity of the transducer array in the 3D reconstruction.

摘要: This paper investigates the behaviour of a 28 GHz Massive MIMO 5G new radio (NR) test system operating with 400 MHz bandwidth and one transmission/reception point in a semi-open urban environment. Single-user multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) performance was evaluated in terms of coverage and propagation. For the considered test area reflections improved the channel conditions. The peak throughput was 6.2 Gbps in line-of-sight corresponding to 15.5 bps/Hz. One transmission/reception point was found to be sufficient to provide good coverage. Furthermore, significant multi-user MIMO gains – often more than 60% for the (median) system downlink throughput – were demonstrated with two users and beam forming with beam tracking in a single cell. This further demonstrates the capacity benefits from beam forming.

Multibeam for Joint Communication and Sensing Using Steerable Analog Antenna Arrays
摘要: Beamforming has great potential for joint communication and radar sensing (JCAS), which is becoming a demanding feature on many emerging platforms such as unmanned aerial vehicles and smart cars. Although beamforming has been extensively studied for communication and radar sensing respectively, its application in the joint system is not straightforward due to different beamforming requirements by communication and sensing. In this paper, we propose a novel multibeam framework using steerable analog antenna arrays, which allows seamless integration of communication and sensing. Different to conventional JCAS schemes that support JCAS using a single beam, our framework is based on the key innovation of multibeam technology: providing fixed subbeam for communication and packet-varying scanning subbeam for sensing, simultaneously from a single transmitting array. We provide a system architecture and protocols for the proposed framework, complying well with modern packet communication systems with multicarrier modulation. We also propose low-complexity and effective multibeam design and generation methods, which offer great flexibility in meeting different communication and sensing requirements. We further develop sensing parameter estimation algorithms using conventional digital Fourier transform and 1D compressive sensing techniques, matching well with the multibeam framework. Simulation results are provided and validate the effectiveness of our proposed framework, beamforming design methods and the sensing algorithms.

Hybrid Inexact BCD for Coupled Structured Matrix Factorization in Hyperspectral Super-Resolution
摘要: A simple quantization scheme is proposed to adjust separately the amplitudes and phases of signals in a codebook-based Transmit Beamforming (TBF) scheme. The proposed quantization scheme is valid for both desired signal power maximization (egoistic TBF) and co-channel interference mitigation (altruistic TBF), and does not require an exhaustive search to find the optimal TBF vector. Performance results are presented when variable numbers of bits for amplitude and phase feedback resolutions are used for both egoistic and altruistic TBF schemes.

摘要: We address a robust beamforming design and power allocation problem for a one-way multi-antenna relay network, where the multi-antenna source implements communication with the multi-antenna destination via a decode-and-forward (DF) relay in the presence of the multiple single-antenna eavesdroppers. The eavesdroppers can only overhear the information flowed from the relay to the destination in the second hop. We aim to maximize the worst-case secrecy rate in the condition that the global channel state information (CSI) is imperfect. To this end, we propose the joint beamforming and power allocation design for the worst-case secrecy rate maximization. However, our proposed design constitutes a non-convex problem, which involves an infinite number of constraints because of the imperfect CSI. To make the problem more tractable, we approximate the problem into several tractable semidefinite programs by semidefinite relaxation, successive convex approximation, and S-procedure techniques, and we propose an iterative algorithm to solve the problem. Furthermore, we show that the proposed algorithm is also applicable for the case the Gaussian wiretap model, where only the eavesdroppers’ CSI is imperfect. Simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Matching Evaluation of Highly Coupled Dipoles Quantified by a Statistical Approach
摘要: The most important linear precoding method for frequency-?at MIMO broadcast channels is block diagonalization (BD) which, under certain conditions, attains the same nonlinear dirty paper coding channel capacity. However, BD is not easily translated to frequency-selective channels, since space-time information must be included in the transceiver design. In this paper, we demonstrate that BD is possible in frequency-selective MIMO broadcast channels to eliminate inter-user interference and derive the conditions on the number of transmit antennas and the transmission block length (as functions of the number of users and channel delay spread) for the existence of BD precoders. We also propose three different approaches to mitigate/eliminate inter-symbol interference in block transmissions: time-reversal-based BD (TRBD), equalized BD (EBD), and joint processing BD (JPBD). We show that any transmit-processing-only method (including TRBD and EBD) yields zero diversity and multiplexing gains (high SNR regime). We also demonstrate that JPBD, which uses linear processing at the transmitter and the receiver, approximates full multiplexing gain for a suf?ciently large transmit block length, and show its diversity-multiplexing tradeoff. Extensive numerical simulations show that the achievable rate and probability of error performance of all the proposed techniques remarkably improve that of conventional time-reversal beamforming. Moreover, JPBD provides the highest achievable rate region for frequency-selective MIMO broadcast channels.

摘要: This paper considers an energy-limited cognitive relay network, where a secondary transmitter (ST) assists to forward the traf?c from a primary transmitter (PT) to a primary receiver (PR), in exchange for serving its own secondary receiver (SR) in the same frequency. The multiple-antenna ST is assumed to be energy-constrained and powered by both information ?ow from source (PT) and dedicated energy streams from destinations (PR and SR), which is called a destination-aided wireless power transfer (DWPT) scheme. Then, the relay processing matrix, cognitive beamforming vector, and power splitter are jointly designed to maximize the rate of secondary users under the energy causality constraint and the constraint that the demanded rate of primary users is satis?ed. For the perfect channel state information (CSI) case, by adopting the semi-de?nite relax technique and the Charnes–Cooper transformation, the global optimal solution is given. To reduce the complexity, matrix decomposition, zero forcing scheme, and dual method are jointly employed to derive a suboptimal solution. For the imperfect CSI case, the S-procedure is used to transform the worst case robust problem into a tractable semi-de?nite program. Simulation results reveal that our proposed DWPT scheme is greatly preferred for both perfect and imperfect CSI cases when ST is close to PR/SR.

Single-Layer Dual-Band Polarization-Selective Metafilm with Independently Controlled and Closely Spaced Shielding Bands
摘要: Spatially distributed transmissions in coordinated multipoint (CoMP) systems can lead to mean channel power imbalance (CPI) at the receiver. Similar imbalance also occurs in distributed antenna and co-located multi-antenna systems due to inaccurate antenna calibration. This paper studies performance impact of power imbalance on some practical CoMP methods with limited feedback. We derive approximate analytical expressions of asymptotic capacity, optimal amplitude weights, as well as signal-to-noise ratio gain for a few methods under analysis. Numerical results validate the analysis and show impacts of erroneous feedback under CPI. Results demonstrate that CPI has significant negative impact on the CoMP performance. Furthermore, our results reveal that amplitude information at transmitter is crucial and detrimental effect of CPI can be effectively compensated by using long-term amplitude information at transmitter. Moreover, additional short-term amplitude feedback shows insignificant gain when a large number of diversity antennas in base stations or CoMP suffer from feedback errors. In fact, a sparsely quantized phase and long-term power information feedback can lead to performance very close to the use of full channel state information at the transmitter.

摘要: Machine-to-machine (M2M) communication represents a new paradigm for mobile cellular networks, where a massive number of low-cost devices request the transfer of small amounts of data without human intervention. One option to tackle this problem is obtained by combining random beamforming (RBF) with opportunistic scheduling. RBF can be used to induce larger channel fluctuations, and opportunistic scheduling can be used to select M2M devices when their overall channel quality is good. Traditional RBF does not fulfill M2M requirements, because overall channel quality needs to be tracked continuously. In order to tackle this limitation, a novel codebook-based RBF architecture that identifies in advance the time instants in which overall channel quality should be reported, within a coherence time window, is proposed. This opportunistic feedback mechanism reduces signaling overhead and enables energy saving at M2M devices. A simplified methodology is presented to evaluate the system mean data rate, using for this purpose closed form formulas derived from SNR distribution approximations. Results reveal that the performance loss that is experienced for introducing the proposed modifications to traditional RBF scheme is negligible. The concepts analyzed in this paper provide useful insights, and show that codebook-based RBF with simplified opportunistic scheduling algorithms is an excellent combination to provide wide-area M2M services with low-cost devices and limited signaling overhead.
