    摘要: A capsule endoscope system that can support wide visualization field and location tracking capability is proposed. The body channel communication (BCC) transceiver integrated circuit (IC) and 4-camera module is integrated in the proposed capsule endoscope. To support 4-camera image transmission, BCC transceiver provide high speed data rate with low-power. With cross-coupled camera module, 360-degree of image capturing is supported. For the accurate (sub-cm range) capsule localization, contact attenuation compensation scheme is proposed. The system is integrated on the rigid flexible printed circuit board (PCB) to reduce system form factor. The proposed endoscope system operates longer than 8 hours with 4fps and 12 hours with 2fps with conventional small size coin battery and verified through human mimicking phantom.

    摘要: The stability of p-channel low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) thin-film transistors (TFTs) under positive bias stress (PBS) is investigated in this paper. Interestingly, it is observed that the transfer curves show different degradation phenomena from the previous reports, i.e., the threshold voltage (Vth) shifts to the negative gate bias direction, and the hump current in the subthreshold region clearly shrinks with the increase of the stress time, and finally disappears under the PBS, which is explained by the creation and accumulation of positive charges in the gate oxide. It is also observed that the hump current in p-channel TFTs is eliminated at a higher temperature and one possible mechanism for the appearance of hump current is proposed.

    摘要: This paper develops a new iterative algorithm for the design of an all-pass phase-compensating filter (AP-PCF). This design algorithm employs the linear programming method through successively linearizing the nonlinear constraints as linear ones, and the AP-PCF is designed using the minimax criterion. The resulting AP-PCF is useful in the compensation of phase distortions of a variety of nonlinear-phase digital systems including digital communication channels. The basic idea of this design algorithm is to successively convert the nonlinear design constraints into linear ones and thus the design problem becomes a linear optimization problem. Based on such a problem conversion, the obtained linear optimization problem can be easily solved. A computer simulation example is given for showing the accuracy enhancement.

  • Electrical contacts to two-dimensional transition-metal dichalcogenides

    摘要: Two-dimensional (2D) transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) have attracted enormous interests as the novel channel materials for atomically thin transistors. Despite considerable progress in recent years, the transistor performance is largely limited by the excessive contact resistance at the source/drain interface. In this review, a summary of recent progress on improving electrical contact to TMDC transistors is presented. Several important strategies including topology of contacts, choice of metals and interface engineering are discussed.

    摘要: This demo shows a computing system able to process data from electrophysiology cultures in real-time. It is the first one able to identify eventual relationship among living cells from the cell activity signals. The hardware demonstrator is able to acquire data from 64 analog signals sampled at 10kHz, but the computing architecture is flexible enough to provide various number of input electrodes depending of its configuration. Most of the parameters are user definable without reconfiguration to ensure the usability of the system for real-life biology experiment.

    摘要: The next generation passive optical network, stage 2 (NG-PON2) constitute milestone in the optical access networks evolution. Currently the requirements of its physical layer, such as a 40 Gb/s of upstream/downstream capacity, using a hybrid WDM-TDM technology with reliability and efficiency in bandwidth and power consumption. The NG'PON2 standard also demand an Optical Distribution Network (ODN) backward compatibility with previous ITU-T PON standards. In this paper we provide a comprehensive way to understand NG-PON2 and present an experimental demonstration of a NGPON-2 compliant network deployment, employing BER and Optical Path Penalty (OPP) measurements, in order to verify the performance of different inter-channel spacing variations for determining its impact in the data transmission. Results show that there is a 3 dB penalty when using 0.2 nm of inter-channel spacing with respect to a 0.4 nm of inter-channel spacing.

    摘要: Demand for data and multi-media services in recent times has really grown and it is expected to grow more in the next decade with application ranges from high speed real-time/live streaming to live video-conferencing, and so the demand for new and richer data services to meet up with the new and more advanced applications. In other to meet up with these great users’ expectations, there is a need to explore other viable access network technologies that can offer services beyond what is already in the offering. Free space optical (FSO) communication system is the predominant choice to replace existing wireless technology with great availability of link capacity and huge bandwidth to meet the user’s expectation of the 21st century. This system is reliant on optics signal transmitted in a free space channel, hence termed FSO. This type of communication does not require any licenses for its operation and offers many features being the low-start up and operational cost, rapid development and high fiber-like bandwidth. FSO uses line-of-sight path for the communication between two points and beam of light to provide optical connection that can send and receive video, voice and data information. This technology provides a massive and unregulated bandwidth where a data rate in excess of 100Gbit/s is achievable over a distance of 1-4km. However, it suffers from degradation in the signal quality due to its susceptibility to atmospheric channel impairments which limits its wide deployment and quality of services. This paper explores the FSO system, atmospheric effects of implementing this system and mitigating techniques.

  • Physical Layer Security of Hybrid Satellite-FSO Cooperative Systems

    摘要: In this paper, we study the physical layer secrecy performance of a hybrid satellite and free-space optical (FSO) cooperative system. The satellite links are assumed to follow the Shadowed-Rician fading distribution; and the channel of the terrestrial link between the relay and destination is assumed to experience the Gamma-Gamma fading. For the FSO communications, the effects of different types of detection techniques (i.e., heterodyne detection and intensity modulation with direct detection) as well as the pointing error are considered. We derive exact analytical expressions for the average secrecy capacity (ASC) and secrecy outage probability (SOP) for both cases of Amplify-and-Forward (AF) and Decode-and-Forward (DF) relaying. The asymptotic analysis for the SOP is also conducted to provide more insights on the impact of FSO and satellite channels on secrecy performance. It is found that with the AF with fixed gain scheme, the secrecy diversity order of the investigated system is only dependent on the channel characteristics of the FSO link and the FSO detection type, whereas the secrecy diversity is zero when the relay node employs DF or AF with variable-gain schemes.

  • Sea Clutter Cancellation for Passive Radar Sensor Exploiting Multi-Channel Adaptive Filters

    摘要: Sea clutter suppression in passive radar sensor is a challenging problem because the Doppler frequencies of low-velocity sea-surface targets are typically close to the spectrum of the sea clutter. Conventional approaches based on single-channel high-pass filters are effective for clutter suppression only when the clutter is concentrated in low Doppler region. For sea clutter that has a spread spectrum, however, these approaches have to compromise target signal reception. That is, they either form a narrow notch which does not effectively suppress clutter, or generate a broadened null that simultaneously mitigates low-velocity target signals. Therefore, it is desirable to design a filter that forms a notch broad enough to cover the entire clutter spectrum, with the frequency response rising sharply to a high gain outside the clutter band. Toward this end, in this paper, we develop a generalized multi-channel adaptive filter which, by forming multiple sharp notches over a set of discrete frequencies within the clutter spectrum, achieves effective clutter suppression and target signal preservation. We focus on the fast frequency-domain implementation, and the performance analysis in terms of the frequency response, signal energy loss, and computational complexities is also presented. The effectiveness of the proposed approaches is verified using real-data results.

  • A Simple Channel Independent Beamforming Scheme with Parallel Uniform Circular Array

    摘要: In this letter, we consider a uniform circular array (UCA) based line-of-sight (LOS) multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) system, where the transmit and receive UCAs are parallel but non-coaxial with each other. We propose a simple channel independent beamforming scheme with fast symbol-wise maximum likelihood (ML) detection.
