    摘要: this paper presents the design of two structures of substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) bandpass filter (BPF) for millimeter-wave application. By approaching the cruciform slot and ground vias, the numbers of resonance frequency was increased, and the filter structure can be miniaturized. Finally, the filter is designed to work at the center frequency of 22 GHz with the bandwidth of 1.4 GHz, and the numerical simulations shows good performance in the pass band and stopband.

    摘要: A 9-bit digital true time delay (TDD) and amplification module with high integration is proposed in this paper. The true time delay units, bi-directional amplifiers, serial-to-parallel converter and power pulse modulated circuits are integrated in a multi-chip module (MCM) with monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) and surface mount technology (SMT). Multi-layer microwave board is used to implement the routing of DC, control and RF signals. Moreover, in order to achieve better flatness of time delay, distributed amplifiers and high isolation cavity structures have been adopted. To calculate the spatial isolation of the cavity structures, electromagnetic simulation with microwave high frequency software has been utilized. For verification, a multi-channel TDD module has been designed, fabricated and measured. According to the measured results, the TDD module achieves the receive gain within 4.5 dB ± 0.8 dB, transmit power within 17dBm ± 1.0 dB, and high time-delay accuracy within ± 0.5 ps for 6.25 ps and ± 20 ps for 1600 ps, simultaneously.

  • Stopband-Extended and Size-Miniaturized Low-Pass Filter with Three Transmission Zeros

    摘要: This paper presents a compact structure composed of an upper high-impedance transmission line, a middle extended parallel coupled line, and a pair of inter-coupled symmetrical stubs. Detailed investigation into this structure based on an equivalent circuit analysis reveals that this proposed structure exhibits a quasi-elliptic low-pass filtering response with three transmission zeros. Moreover, the positions of the three transmission zeros can be tuned and reallocated flexibly by choosing the proper circuit parameters. Finally, the design concept is validated through the design, fabrication, and measurement of two exemplary low-pass filters (LPFs) with one single unit and two cascaded asymmetric units. The measured results agree well with the simulated results. In addition, in the range of 1.42 fc to 7.03 fc, the fabricated quasi-elliptic LPFs experimentally demonstrate a very wide upper-stopband of 20 dB using a compact size of only 0.0089λg2, where λg is the guided wavelength of a 50 ? transmission line at the central frequency.

  • Fractal Analysis - Applications in Physics, Engineering and Technology || Fractals in Antennas and Metamaterials Applications

    摘要: Recently, telecommunications systems have been requiring more advanced features in the design and operation. Among others a smaller size of devices, which can be integrated for multiple mobile communications systems, applied in one user's device board, such as PDA or smartphone. Moreover, the cost of mass production should be minimized as much as possible. To meet part of that request, the antennas of these devices should have small size, lower weight, operating in multiple frequency bands and/or be broadband. There are many research methods to achieve this goal, one of which is using the fractal geometries for the shape of antenna elements. In recent years, there are many fractal shapes that have been proposed for such applications, and the designed antennas have significantly improved antenna features such as smaller size, operating in multi-frequency bands, with improved power gain and efficiency. In recent years, the new approach for modern antenna the metamaterials, MTM, is adopted, and sometimes that based on the fractal geometry is adopted.

  • A compact triplea??mode bandpass filter based on isosceles righta??angled triangular resonator

    摘要: In this letter, a triple-mode bandpass filter based on isosceles right-angled triangular (RAT) resonator with three magnetic walls is proposed. To realize the triple-mode filter, the RAT resonator is perturbed by two metalized via-holes around the center. These via-holes form an LC resonant unit with the patch. Also, the via-holes make mode shifting of the TM010 Z mode while not affecting the TM110 Z mode in order to form the passband. The proposed filter is fabricated and measured. The center frequency is 5.51 GHz and the fractional bandwidth is 20%. The minimum in-band insertion loss and return loss are measured to be 1.26 dB and 20.5 dB. The measurement results show that the filter has featured both compact size and excellent in-band responses.

  • An X-band single-layer waveguide directional filter with compact size and low insertion loss

    摘要: A novel waveguide directional ?lter with compact-size and low insertion loss is proposed in this letter. The basic structure consists of a pair of rectangular waveguides placed parallel to each other along their narrow side and two identical band-pass ?lters connect them via two coupling slots. For easy of fabrication and assembling, all the band-pass ?lters and wave-guides have a uniform height, that is all the components of the directional ?lter are in a single-layer waveguide. It is easy machining by standard computer numerical controlled (CNC) techniques to match the requirement for low cost. For veri?cation purpose, an X-band single-layer waveguide directional ?lter has been manufactured and measured. The measured results show a insertion loss better than 0.1 dB, a return loss lower than ?17.5 dB and a isolation better than ?22.5 dB, good band-pass and band-elimination responses are also obtained over the frequency range from 7.25 GHz to 9.75 GHz. The good agreement has been found between the simulated and measured results.

  • COMPACT SINGLE-LAYER BALANCED EIGHTH-MODE SUBSTRATE INTEGRATED WAVEGUIDE BANDPASS FILTER WITH HIGH SELECTIVITY

    摘要: This letter proposes a compact single-layer balanced bandpass ?lter (BPF), which is realized by a new arrangement of eighth-mode substrate integrated waveguide (EMSIW) cavities. Under di?erential-mode (DM) operation, the half bisection topology of the proposed EMSIW ?lter can be equivalent to a quadruplet scheme based on four coupled EMSIW cavities. The negative cross coupling can be easily realized by the nature of the fringe electric ?elds of opened ends of EMSIW cavities. For the demonstration, a balanced EMSIW ?lter with the operating frequency at 2.4 GHz is designed, fabricated, and measured.

    摘要: This letter presents an improved UWB bandpass ?lter with sharp selectivity and a notch-band. Its fundamental structure is mainly based on a half-wavelength resonator using asymmetric parallel-coupled line. A center-tapped short-stub is connected at the symmetrical plane of the ?lter. As a result, two transmission zeros at the lower and upper passband/stopband edges are obtained. Moreover, one open parallel-coupled line is introduced to achieve a notch-band. Measured results indicate that the proposed ?lter has achieved a bandwidth of 110.6% from 3.05 to 10.6 GHz with a notch-band at 8.5 GHz. In addition, this ?lter can o?er some other advantages such as sharp roll-o? and compact size (0.63λg × 0.33λg), which make it attractive for the practical applications in UWB systems.

  • Design of a low-loss microstrip diplexer with a compact size based on coupled meandrous open-loop resonators

    摘要: In this paper, we have designed and fabricated a novel microstrip diplexer. It has two quite close channels at 1.67 GHz and 1.88 GHz make it suitable for FDD schemes and GSM applications. The proposed structure includes two coupled meandrous open loop resonators which are coupled to spiral cells. An approximated LC model of the presented resonator is proposed and analyzed to give some information about the resonator behavior. Based on the obtained information, the proposed diplexer is optimized and miniaturized. It occupies a small size of 0.036 kg 0.43 dB and 0.35 dB are obtained for the ?rst and second bands, respectively. For verifying the simulation results and designing method, the diplexer is fabricated and measured, where the measurement and simulation results show a good agreement.

  • A novel wideband bandpass filter based on CSRRa??loaded substrate integrated folded waveguide

    摘要: A novel wideband bandpass filter based on folded substrate integrated waveguide (FSIW) is presented in the article. Five square complementary split-ring resonators (CSRRs) are etched in the middle layer of the FSIW. By adjusting the physical size of the CSRR structure, the resonant frequency of the CSRRs can be tuned at the same time and the stopband performance can be changed. As transverse electromagnetic (TEM) mode can be transmitted in the stripline, FSIW excited by stripline shows wider passband than that excited by microstrip line directly. To achieve perfect impedance matching, two microstrip lines to stripline transitions are added in two ports of the filter. The proposed bandpass filter exhibits compact size, high selectivity, good stopband rejection, lower radiation loss, and wideband performances. The measured results show that the fractional bandwidth of the filter is about 35.5%. The measured return loss is better than 15 dB from 4.84 GHz to 6.90 GHz, and the insertion loss is less than 1.2 dB. The comparison between the simulated results and the measured ones validate the possibility of the technology that combines the FSIW and CSRR.
