Cross-Domain Image Matching with Deep Feature Maps
摘要: We investigate the problem of automatically determining what type of shoe left an impression found at a crime scene. This recognition problem is made difficult by the variability in types of crime scene evidence (ranging from traces of dust or oil on hard surfaces to impressions made in soil) and the lack of comprehensive databases of shoe outsole tread patterns. We find that mid-level features extracted by pre-trained convolutional neural nets are surprisingly effective descriptors for this specialized domains. However, the choice of similarity measure for matching exemplars to a query image is essential to good performance. For matching multi-channel deep features, we propose the use of multi-channel normalized cross-correlation and analyze its effectiveness. Our proposed metric significantly improves performance in matching crime scene shoeprints to laboratory test impressions. We also show its effectiveness in other cross-domain image retrieval problems: matching facade images to segmentation labels and aerial photos to map images. Finally, we introduce a discriminatively trained variant and fine-tune our system through our proposed metric, obtaining state-of-the-art performance.

摘要: We describe an experiment which comes very close to implementing a quantum radar based on entangled microwaves. A pair of entangled microwave beams are generated using a Josephson parametric amplifier (JPA) and measured by a pair of digitizers after amplification. We present a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve for the case where the signal power at the digitizers is ?83.84 dBm (corresponding to a JPA power output, before amplification, of ?148.26 dBm), as well as for a classically correlated source which attempts to approximate the covariance structure of the entangled JPA signals. The entangled signals are seen to be clearly superior to the classically correlated signals. Although the latter is still interesting from a noise radar perspective, this demonstrates that attempting to simulate entanglement with classical signals causes a measurable decrease in correlation. Our experiment validates the feasibility and desirability of a microwave quantum radar.

摘要: This demo shows a computing system able to process data from electrophysiology cultures in real-time. It is the first one able to identify eventual relationship among living cells from the cell activity signals. The hardware demonstrator is able to acquire data from 64 analog signals sampled at 10kHz, but the computing architecture is flexible enough to provide various number of input electrodes depending of its configuration. Most of the parameters are user definable without reconfiguration to ensure the usability of the system for real-life biology experiment.

On the Possibility of Breaking the Heterodyne Detection Quantum Noise Limit With Cross-Correlation
摘要: The cross-correlation sensitivity of two identical balanced photodiode heterodyne receivers is characterized. Both the balanced photodiodes receive the same weak signal split up equally, a situation equivalent to an astronomical spatial interferometer. A common local oscillator is also split up equally and its phase difference between both the receivers is stabilized. We show by a semi-classical photon deletion theory that the post-detection laser shot noise contributions on both the receivers must be completely uncorrelated in this case of passing three power splitters. We measured the auto- and cross-correlation outputs as a function of the weak signal power (system noise temperature measurement) and obtained a cross-correlation system noise temperature up to 20 times lower than for the auto-correlation system noise temperature of each receiver separately. This is supported by Allan plot measurements showing cross-correlation standard deviations 30 times lower than in auto-correlation. Careful calibration of the source power shows that the auto-correlation (regular) noise temperature of the single balanced receivers is already very near to the quantum limit as expected, which suggests a cross-correlation system noise temperature below the quantum limit. If validated further, this experimentally clear finding will not only be relevant for astronomical instrumentation but also for other fields, such as telecommunications and medical imaging.

Fast four-dimensional tensile test monitored via X-ray computed tomography: Elastoplastic identification from radiographs
摘要: A projection-based digital volume correlation method (presented in a companion paper) is extended to an integrated approach for the calibration of an elastoplastic law based on a single radiograph per loading step. Instead of following a two-step sequential procedure (i.e. first, measurement of the displacement field; second, identification), the integrated method aims at identifying few model parameters directly from the gray-level projections. The analysis of an in situ tensile test composed of 127 loading steps performed in 6 min is presented. An isotropic elastoplastic constitutive law with free-form hardening behavior (i.e. controlled by only eight parameters) is identified and shows a ductile behavior (up to 6.3% strain before failure). A large improvement on the residual quality is shown and validates the proposed model and procedure. The obtained displacement fields are similar to those measured with no mechanical integration. A different parameterization of the constitutive law provides a very close result, thereby assessing the robustness of the procedure.

摘要: Glaucoma, one of the major causes of blindness, has been identified as a disease that causes the degeneration of the optic disc. An highly accurate automated detection of the optic disc (OD) has however been noted to be of great importance for the efficient diagnosis of the disease. This paper presents a study on an unsupervised approach usage of Haralick Correlation texture feature for the segmentation of optic disc in colored fundus retinal images. The grayscale and green channel of the colored fundus image are investigated. When compared with some methods in the literature, the experimental study of the proposed method achieved very high average accuracy rates of 98.59% and 98.36% using grayscale and green channel of the colored fundus image respectively on DRIVE database.

摘要: An automatically monitoring method of electrical device is proposed in this paper. Various visualization monitoring systems are built to save maintenance costs and improve operation efficiency. Limited to the working principle of ordinary camera lens, obtained image is easy to produce image deformity and aberration. In order to solve this problem, an image correction method based on phase-only correlation (POC) in power industry is suggested to get the image information of the actual situation of device. Experimental results show that proposed method can effectively save testing cost and achieve a high correction accuracy of device image.

摘要: Discriminative correlation filters (DCFs) have drawn increasing interest in visual tracking. In particular, a few recent works treat DCFs as a special layer and adding it into a Siamese network for visual tracking. However, they adopt shallow networks to learn target representations, which lack robust semantic information in deeper layers and make these works fail to handle significant appearance changes. In this paper, we design a novel network to fuse multi-level convolutional features, each level of which characterize target from different perspectives. Then we integrate our network with the DCF layer to construct an end-to-end deep architecture for visual tracking. The overall architecture is trained end-to-end offline to adaptively learn target representations, which are not only enabled to encode high-level semantic features and low-level spatial detail features, but also closely related to correlation filters. Experiments show that our proposed tracker achieves superior performance against state-of the-art trackers.

Evolution of Holographic Entropy Quantities for Composite Quantum Systems
摘要: We consider entanglement entropy quantities for a three-part system, namely, the tripartite information, total correlation, and so-called secrecy monotone. A holographic approach is used to calculate the time evolution of the entanglement entropy during nonequilibrium heating, which leads to holographic definitions of these quantities. We study time dependence of these three quantities.

Software Platform for European XFEL: Towards Online Experimental Data Analysis
摘要: Large amount of data being generated at large scale facilities like European X-ray Free-Electron Laser (XFEL) requires new approaches for data processing and analysis. One of the most computationally challenging experiments at an XFEL is single-particle structure determination. In this paper we propose a new design for an integrated software platform which combines well-established techniques for XFEL data analysis with High Performance Data Analysis (HPDA) methods. In our software platform we use streaming data analysis algorithms with high performance computing solutions. This approach should allow analysis of the experimental dataflow in quasi-online regime.
