    摘要: Ultrasound tomography (UT) is a modern method of medical imaging that has been intensively developed recently to diagnose female breasts in vivo. This method makes it possible to acquire images in various ultrasound modalities simultaneously - both transmission and reflection ones, without any focusing. Therefore, the ultrasound intensity level when scanning individual coronal breast sections is relatively low. Data for reconstruction of images is obtained by means of a multi-element array of small piezoceramic transducers spaced evenly on the inner side of the ring surrounding the breast immersed in water. The main problem with such arrangements is the occurrence of crosstalk, which introduces specific errors to measurement data. Crosstalk is a result of a deficiency in electrical or mechanical isolation between array elements. Such errors lead to distortions in the reconstructed images. In the paper, the effect of crosstalk in the ultrasound tomography ring array was examined and analyzed. The influence of crosstalk on the reconstructed images of the breast structure was shown as well. Conducted studies enabled the detection of the sources and paths of crosstalk and, as a consequence, it allowed us to improve the design of the multi-element ultrasonic transducer ring array, and to reduce crosstalk.

  • Crosstalk effect mitigation in black body warm-up cool-down calibration for Terra MODIS longwave infrared photovoltaic bands

    摘要: The crosstalk phenomena in Terra MODerate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) midwave-to-longwave infrared (LWIR) photovoltaic (PV) bands (bands 27-30) have recently been individually studied and characterized, and a correction algorithm has been developed. The routine calibration of the four LWIR PV bands uses an onboard black body (BB) based on a quadratic model for the relationship between the at-aperture radiance and the background subtracted instrument response. While the crosstalk correction has been successfully applied in both the routine BB calibration (scan basis) to correct the crosstalk effect in the linear term and the Earth view (EV) radiance in our previous investigations on the bands 27–29, the most recent work on band 30 demonstrated a newfound necessity to include the impact of the crosstalk effect on the nonlinear term as well as the offset. In this paper, we analyze the calibration calculation under a variety of conditions consistent with the MODIS Collection 6 settings to examine the impact of the crosstalk effect in the two terms derived from the BB warm-up-cool-down (WUCD) calibration. We show that with correct account of the crosstalk effect in the WUCD calibration, the sudden changes and other abnormal features that have been observed in the two terms for many years are effectively and remarkably removed. In addition, imagery for bands 27–29 using the calibration result fully corrected for the electronic crosstalk effect shows further improvement over previous results that account for only the corrected linear term, whereas for the band 30 different testing scenes validate the previous fully corrected ?ndings.

  • Influence of the crosstalk on the intensity of HAADF-STEM images of quaternary semiconductor materials

    摘要: The influence of the neighbouring atomic-columns in determining the composition at atomic column scale of quaternary semiconductor compounds, using simulated HAADF-STEM images is evaluated. The InAlAsSb alloy, a promising material in the photovoltaic field, is considered. We find that the so called ‘crosstalk’ effect plays an important role for the aimed compositional determination. The intensity transfer is larger from neighbouring atomic columns with higher average Z, and towards atomic columns with smaller Z. Our results show that in order to obtain precise information on the column composition, the HAADF-STEM intensities of both columns need to be taken into account simultaneously.
