    摘要: In this paper, a novel hybrid-resonant PWM switching scheme is presented for an isolated high-performance and cost-effective LLC multi-resonant dc-dc converter with an output voltage-doubler in solar power applications. The new hybrid-resonant PWM switching scheme enables a resonant converter topology to achieve very high energy efficiency over a wide range of input line and load. The proposed control scheme not only maximized the efficiency, but also simplifies the implementation of MPPT in resonant converters. Finally, using SiC wide-band gap semiconductor technology will make it possible to operate these devices and the electronic board in an elevated temperate, thus achieving higher reliability and required life time. Experimental results are presented for a prototype unit converting input voltage range of 17 V to 48 V dc from a solar panel to an output voltage of 400 V dc at 250 W. The prototype achieves a peak efficiency of 98.5 %.

    摘要: The present paper deals with a standalone micro grid for rural electrification with multilevel converters powered by PV energy solar, with large range of solar irradiance. For countries of Sub-Saharan Africa, the developed systems must have aspects of robustness, reliability, very low maintenance and affordable costs. So, the use of multilevel converter in low and medium voltage can satisfy these criteria according to the following conditions: good voltage withstand and low losses for the power switches, low total harmonic distortion of output voltage. These properties allow optimally sizing PV solar panels, battery banks, passive elements for filters, and electrical features of power components.

    摘要: The main design considerations for the practical implementation of a Phase Shifted Full Bridge DC-DC converter with synchronous rectification using recently released radiation hardened Gallium Nitride (GaN) Field Effect Transistors (FETs) for space applications are presented in this paper. A brief survey comparing the benefits of GaN FETs for space power applications against current Silicon power transistor technology is conducted. Also, the main drivers for topology selection, and design considerations to implement the selected topology for space applications resulting from the limited radiation hardened components available today are described in detail. In addition, power loss breakdown from analysis and final design choices are presented. A converter was designed to validate design based on the considerations outlined. The implemented converter operates from a 100 V DC bus and delivers 400 W from a fixed 20 V output at more than 95% efficiency.

    摘要: Solar energy is the most important and freely available energy source which generates in DC form, which requires power electronic devices to adapt its output to requirements. The conventional SEPIC and CUK converters are formed by two inductors, link capacitors, switch and diode. The CUK is a negative output converter, while the SEPIC is a positive output the SEPIC-CUK configuration it is observed that both converters have the same voltage conversion ratio with opposite polarity. Bipolar DC link has two wires one with positive polarity and one with negative polarity. In normal operation, the current through ground is zero. It has two voltage levels, allowing fault conditions a monopolar operation. The main advantage of the proposed configuration is that it allows implementation of bipolar DC link with only one controllable switch. The system can be connected to the AC or DC micro grids. Linear Variable structure control MPPT algorithm is use to extract maximum power from the PV module and also to control the switch.

    摘要: This paper proposes a new global MPPT method for PV array under non-uniform insolation. The proposed method first tracks the knee point using I-V characteristic which is near to the local peak of the P-V curve. Then it compares the measured power at various knee points to find the region containing global peak. Finally, it uses P&O to find the exact global peak. Thus the proposed method avoids the use of P&O to track every local peak. The performance of the proposed algorithm is further verified in MATLAB/Simulink. The results show that the proposed method is able to track global peak of PV array during Partially Shaded Conditions.

  • Intelligent PV Power System with Unbalanced Current Compensation Using CFNN-AMF

    摘要: A novel method is proposed to compensate the three-phase unbalanced currents of power grid under three-phase unbalanced load for a two-stage photovoltaic (PV) power system without the augmentation of active power filter (APF). The PV power system is composed of an interleaved DC/DC converter and a three-level neutral-point clamped (NPC) inverter. Moreover, the PV power system possesses the smart inverter function, in which the output active and reactive powers of the PV inverter are predetermined by a power factor according to grid codes of the utilities. In the proposed method, the dq0-axis compensation currents are obtained through low pass filters (LPFs) to compensate the three-phase unbalanced currents of power grid. Furthermore, in order to improve the control performance of the DC bus voltage of the PV power system under unbalanced load variation condition, an online trained compensatory neural fuzzy network with an asymmetric membership function (CFNN-AMF) is proposed to replace the traditional proportional-integral (PI) controller for the DC bus voltage control. In the proposed CFNN-AMF, the compensatory parameter to integrate pessimistic and optimistic operations of fuzzy systems is embedded in the CFNN. In addition, the dimensions of the Gaussian membership functions are directly extended to AMFs. Additionally, the proposed controllers of the PV power system are implemented by two control platforms using floating-point digital signal processor (DSP). Finally, excellent compensation performance for the three-phase currents of power grid under three-phase unbalanced load can be achieved from the experimental results.

    摘要: With the significant reduction in board space occupied by the smaller GaN transistors, topologies that require a greater number of active devices as a tradeoff for reduced passive size, the main barrier to higher density, have become attractive. Switched capacitor multilevel converters are good examples of topologies that can effectively reduce or eliminate passive components. Two GaN based proof-of-concept designs (three-level converters), one for a low voltage (LV) 48 V server application and the other for a higher voltage (HV) 400 V power factor correction (PFC) circuit are discussed in this paper. As a result of using lower figure-of-merit (FOM) devices, significant efficiency gains are observed for the LV and HV converters developed in this paper compared to a two-level topology. Smaller passive size (mainly inductors) also provides a significant increase in power density for the LV converter. A startup scheme is discussed which eliminates the need for extraneous control loops or high voltage rated devices for the top switch. Finally, an electrical performance comparison is also shown for a two-stage intermediate bus architecture (IBA) developed with the GaN based three-level converter for the front end and a high frequency GaN-based second buck stage for 48 V to 1 V point-of-load (PoL) conversion. Two choices of intermediate bus voltage are investigated: 12 V and 6 V. Each bus voltage demonstrates its advantage in a certain range of load current.
