  • Design of Circular Waveguide Annular Slot Coupled Two-layer DRA for Linear and Circular Polarizations

    摘要: The design of a circular-waveguide coupled two-layer DRA configuration is presented. It is observed that besides a reduction in the layers compared to a rectangular waveguide coupled number of multilayer-DRA structure to achieve coupling and enhanced bandwidth, the current configuration significantly enhances the functionality of the design in the realization of dual-band and right-hand / left-hand circularly-polarized (RHCP / LHCP) configurations without the use of additional coupling or matching elements, which to the best of our knowledge has not been reported earlier. Radiation characteristics with low cross-pol are achieved for the linearly polarized dual-band antenna structure. For the circularly-polarized (CP) configurations, a good axial-ratio performance and a high isolation between the RHCP and LHCP fields are achieved. The computed results are obtained through a full-wave Green’s function analysis of the structure, with the thickness of the ground-plane modeled as an annular cavity.

    摘要: In this paper, a single-layer anisotropic coding metasurface is designed to work in dual-band, which has frequency- and polarization-dependent properties. By changing the frequency and polarization of the incident waves, the proposed single coding metasurface can achieve different electromagnetic (EM) functionalities independently. This design is experimentally demonstrated in the microwave frequency band and can be further exploited for realizing multifunctional devices.

  • Single-/dual-band triple-mode cavity filters with wide tunable frequency range

    摘要: Two third-order continuously tunable bandpass filters featuring single-/dual-band operations, respectively, are presented in this letter. One requires a set of three metallic posts in a single metallic cavity, while the other needs one more set to achieve the desired dual-band operation. The length of each post is adjusted through a screw from its top to establish the center frequency of the passband. Moreover, the coupling among these three resonators can be controlled by varying their locations to determine the bandwidth of the passband. At the bottom of the cavity, grooves are created to linearize and extend the frequency tuning range. In addition, compared to traditional coaxial cavity filters, the proposed designs offer the advantages of ease in fabrication and low in weight. A practical example for the dual-band design is presented for experimental verification. The simulated range for the tunable passband is from 0.8 to 3.2 GHz, which amounts to a fractional bandwidth of 120%. The simulated results agree well with the measured data.

    摘要: A technique is presented to design dual-band, high-gain metamaterial based resonant cavity antenna using frequency selective surface (FSS) layer. The radiating dielectric resonator (DR) is connected by a microstrip line and a rectangular slot is cut from the ground surface. Cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (CDRA) is used as an elementary radiator. CDRA is excited by the microstrip line through the rectangular slot and it is radiating in the broadside direction at two adjacent frequency bands (S and C bands). Antenna simulation results confirmed it resonates in two adjacent bands centered at 3.9 GHz and 7.1 GHz. The gain of the DRA at these two bands are 2.43 dBi and 4.32 dBi respectively. With a single layer 5 X 5 array superstrate the gain of the proposed antenna increased by 8.02 dBi from 3.6 to 4.1 GHz frequency band and 1.05 dBi from 6.7 to 7.5 GHz frequency band. This high-gain dual-band DRA can be used for millimeter wave wireless communication, small satellite communication terminals.

  • HIGHLY SELECTIVE LOSSY DUAL-BAND BANDSTOP FILTER SYNTHESIS AND DESIGN BASED ON PREDISTORTION HYBRID DUAL-BAND ELLIPTIC REFECTION FUNCTION

    摘要: This paper demonstrates a new class of highly selective bandstop ?lter based on cascading two identical lossy hybrid dual-band bandstop ?lters of low resonator Q factor. Each ?lter is synthesized based on multi-stage predistortion re?ection mode technique. To demonstrate the approach, 4th order hybrid dual-band elliptic ?lter network which is a product of elliptic lowpass and highpass network functions has been predistorted and synthesized with low calculated Q factor. The lossy dual-band bandstop ?lters are fabricated and realized on microstrip planar structure. Both theoretical and experimental results clearly show good agreements with two stopband rejections up to 35 dB for one stage and 50 dB for two stages with passband loss of more than 10 dB.

  • Dual-band light-emitting diode based on microwheel cavity

    摘要: Compact and broadband electroluminescent (EL) devices have garnered considerable interest in recent years. In this study, we have fabricated a light-emitting diode (LED) based on a GaN microwheel cavity with a peak emission wavelength of 438 nm. Another emission peak at 512 nm is realized by coating CH3NH3PbBr3 on the LED. The microwheel-cavity–based LED is fabricated by photolithography and inductively coupled plasma etching process. The opto-electrical performance of the device is characterized in terms of the EL spectrum, luminescence intensity, full width at half maximum, and 3 dB bandwidth. Compared to the device without the CH3NH3PbBr3 layer, the proposed device exhibits dual-band illumination and higher 3 dB bandwidth with potential applications in optical communication.

  • DUAL-BAND CIRCULAR POLARIZED SLOT ARRAY ANTENNA IN SUBSTRATE INTEGRATED WAVEGUIDE USING TWO PROPAGATION MODES FOR COMMUNICATION SATELLITES TRANSCEIVERS

    摘要: A novel dual-band circularly-polarized slot array antenna aimed at LEO satellites communications where up-link and down-link operate at di?erent frequencies is introduced. By using higher order modes, the slots can be placed at points where current distributions are null for the fundamental mode. According to this idea, at the receiver frequency band the slots are placed to be excited by mode T E10 currents distribution, and at the transmitting band slots are forced to radiate according to mode T E20 currents distribution. A matching load termination is used to generate the required travelling wave to obtain the circular polarization, introducing low dissipation losses. Additionally, in this investigation an antenna feeder is also designed. Both the feeder and the slot antenna array are designed using Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW). The use of SIW makes easier the design of the transitions from the array to the microstrip input lines and the grounded-coplanar termination as well, relaxing fabrication constraints and tolerance.

    摘要: A method to characterize the memory effects in a nonlinear concurrent dual-band transmitter is presented. It is an extension of the conventional two-tone test for power amplifiers to concurrent dual-band transmitters. The output signal of a concurrent dual-band transmitter is affected not only by intermodulation (IM) products but also by cross-modulation (CM) products. In one frequency band, the transmitter is excited by a two-tone signal which frequency separation is swept. In the second band, the transmitter is concurrently excited by another two-tone signal with slightly wider frequency separation. The frequency difference of the two signals is fixed during the frequency sweep. The two-tone test is made at different power levels. The upper and lower third-order IM and CM products are measured. The asymmetry between the upper and lower the third-order transmitter’s memory effects. The measurement results show that the memory effects are more dominant in the third-order IM products than in the CM products. An error analysis and system calibration was performed and measurement results for two different devices are presented.

  • Perfect Dual-Band Absorber Based on Plasmonic Effect with the Cross-Hair/Nanorod Combination

    摘要: Plasmonic e?ect using a cross-hair can convey strongly localized surface plasmon modes among the separated composite nanostructures. Compared to its counterpart without the cross-hair, this characteristic has the remarkable merit of enhancing absorptance at resonance and can make the structure carry out a dual-band plasmonic perfect absorber (PPA). In this paper, we propose and design a novel dual-band PPA with a gathering of four metal-shell nanorods using a cross-hair operating at visible and near-infrared regions. Two absorptance peaks at 1050 nm and 750 nm with maximal absorptance of 99.59% and 99.89% for modes 1 and 2, respectively, are detected. High sensitivity of 1200 nm refractive unit (1/RIU), ?gure of merit of 26.67 and Q factor of 23.33 are acquired, which are very remarkable compared with the other PPAs. In addition, the absorptance in mode 1 is about nine times compared to its counterpart without the cross-hair. The proposed structure gives a novel inspiration for the design of a tunable dual-band PPA, which can be exploited for plasmonic sensor and other nanophotonic devices.

    摘要: In this paper, a printed inverted-F antenna (Printed-IFA) for dual-band dual-sense circular polarization is proposed. The bandwidth of 10 dB-return loss with a 3 dB-axial ratio is 5.5% for 2.5GHz band, and the one for 3.5GHz band is 10.0%. Antenna performance and operation principles of the proposed antenna are analyzed and discussed in detail.
