    摘要: Aimed at the serious loss of marginal information when it is conducted with binaryzation in the edge extracting of weld pool image by using the method of mathematical morphology, one kind of improved plan is purposed in this paper. We can use local adaptive binarization method to carry out binaryzation, and then apply the median filtering to build connected region at the same time, use search fill algorithm to obtain the final binary image. We can use the method of mathematical morphology to select structural element with suitable shape and size and apply edge detection operator which is used four kinds of basic operation combinations of morphology to carry out edge detection for binary image. The simulation results show that this method can more accurately extract the image edge of welding pool on the basis of protecting marginal information of welding pool commendably.

    摘要: The accuracy of Doppler centroid estimation affects the target location and the scene mosaic in the Doppler beam sharpening imaging. Though it can be measured by different sensor instruments of servo, attitude, inertial, the inaccurate measurements decrease the imaging performance. In this paper, a Doppler centroid estimation method based on the morphological edge detection is proposed to obtain the Doppler centroid from the received data with loose-measured parameters. The Doppler frequency in the forward-looking region is symmetrical, but the target carries the highest Doppler frequency. The characteristic can be vividly reflected in range Doppler domain with morphological edge. The Doppler centroid can be estimated via the detection of the edge. The results of centroid estimation and Doppler beam sharpening imaging are given to verify the performance of the proposed method.

  • A novel method on the edge detection of infrared image

    摘要: Infrared image processing is important for fault identification of high-voltage equipment. This paper studies the problem on the edge detection of infrared image. First a kind of spiking neural network is constructed, and by using the characteristics of the spiking neuron, a novel method is designed to achieve the edge detection of infrared image. Finally, some typical examples are included and corresponding experimental results show the effectiveness and advantage of the proposed method.

    摘要: Metasurfaces offer unique opportunities for optical signal processing and the design of neuromorphic optical networks for image-processing. Among different image-processing operations, edge detection is one of the essential algorithms with practical applications in microscopy or autonomous systems. The edge detection removes the plain parts of an image, to keep only the edges where the intensity changes abruptly. As such, the processed image contains just silhouettes of the object, Fig. 1a. In microscopy, edge detection helps to identify the structure of cells, while in autonomous systems, such as cars or drones, the optical edge detection can reduce the volume of data to compute on board of the vehicle, making it work faster and safer. To date, there have been several theoretical studies on metasurfaces for edge detection, however, an experimental demonstration is missing. Here we demonstrate experimentally edge detection by using the spatial dispersion of dielectric metasurfaces in the spectral vicinity of the Mie-type resonances (Fig. 1b). We show that a single ultra-thin (hundreds of nanometers) silicon metasurface can result in edge detection without any additional optical components and post computational processing.

    摘要: We announce a new video quality model (VQM) that accounts for the perceptual impact of variable frame delays (VFD) in videos with demonstrated top performance on the laboratory for image and video engineering (LIVE) mobile video quality assessment (VQA) database. This model, called VQM_VFD, uses perceptual features extracted from spatial-temporal blocks spanning fixed angular extents and a long edge detection filter. VQM_VFD predicts video quality by measuring multiple frame delays using perception based parameters to track subjective quality over time. In the performance analysis of VQM_VFD, we evaluated its efficacy at predicting human opinions of visual quality. A detailed correlation analysis and statistical hypothesis testing show that VQM_VFD accurately predicts human subjective judgments and substantially outperforms top-performing image quality assessment and VQA models previously tested on the LIVE mobile VQA database. VQM_VFD achieved the best performance on the mobile and tablet studies of the LIVE mobile VQA database for simulated compression, wireless packet-loss, and rate adaptation, but not for temporal dynamics. These results validate the new model and warrant a hard release of the VQM_VFD algorithm. It is freely available for any purpose, commercial, or noncommercial at http://www.its.bldrdoc.gov/vqm/.

    摘要: A solar panel layout is a diagram of a roof, with the roof edges and obstacles marked. Currently, the user has to manually draw boundary over each obstacle in a tedious and meticulous manner. In this work, we have built a framework using the existing object detection models. We have leveraged the power of traditional edge detection algorithms, fusing with the cutting-edge machine learning based object detection frameworks. This fusion results in a framework capable of detecting objects to their exact edges. Thus, the boundary of each obstacle in a solar panel can be generated automatically with the edge pixel count variation of less than 25% compared to the ground truth.

    摘要: This paper proposes a deep convolutional neural network approach to detect ice surface and bottom layers from radar imagery. Radar images are capable to penetrate the ice surface and provide us with valuable information from the underlying layers of ice surface. In recent years, deep hierarchical learning techniques for object detection and segmentation greatly improved the performance of traditional techniques based on hand-crafted feature engineering. We designed a deep convolutional network to produce the images of surface and bottom ice boundary. Our network take advantage of undecimated wavelet transform to provide the highest level of information from radar images, as well as multilayer and multi-scale optimized architecture. In this work, radar images from 2009-2016 NASA Operation IceBridge Mission are used to train and test the network. Our network outperformed the state-of-the-art accuracy.

  • Photonic Spin-Multiplexing Metasurface for Switchable Spiral Phase Contrast Imaging

    摘要: As the two most representative operation modes in an imaging system, bright-field imaging and phase contrast optical imaging can extract different morphological information on an object. Developing a miniature and low-cost system capable of switching between these two imaging modes is thus very attractive for a number of applications, such as biomedical imaging. Here, we propose and demonstrate that a Fourier transform setup incorporating an all-dielectric metasurface can perform a two-dimensional spatial differentiation operation and thus achieve isotropic edge detection. In addition, the metasurface can provide two spin-dependent, uncorrelated phase profiles across the entire visible spectrum. Therefore, based on the spin-state of incident light, the system can be used for either diffraction-limited bright-field imaging or isotropic edge-enhanced phase contrast imaging. Combined with the advantages of planar architecture and ultrathin thickness of the metasurface, we envision this approach may open new vistas in the very interdisciplinary field of imaging and microscopy.

  • Research on Edge Detection Algorithm Based on Line Laser Scanning

    摘要: With the aim of obtaining the precise position of workpiece, it is necessary to detect the base hole during the automated manufacturing process of robotic drilling systems. In this paper, a detection method based on the line laser is presented to detect the base hole of large aviation parts in manufacturing and assembly. The 3-D point cloud data processing plays an important role during the detection process with a line laser. To extract the point cloud data effectively, an edge detection algorithm which includes a gradient-based edge extraction algorithm and an edge parameterization method is proposed. Then, the correlation analysis of the proposed algorithm is conducted. Finally, an industrial case is presented to illustrate the applicability and effectiveness of the proposed edge detection algorithm. The effects of varying the scan line spacing of the line laser are studied so as to meet the practical need of engineering application. The results indicate that the edge detection algorithm is applicable to the robotic drilling system, and it is reasonable and practicable to use the elliptic curve to parameterize the hole’s edge.
