    摘要: Fault diagnosis of inductions motors has received much attention recently. Most of the works use data obtained either from the time domain or by applying advanced techniques in the frequency domain. Some researchers have employed a considerable effort in designing sophisticated algorithms to achieve the best performance of the diagnosis system. However, some contributions in the field have not taken advantage of the benefits that a good evaluation stage can bring to the developing of classifiers for fault diagnosis. In this paper, novel insights for the classifier evaluation are presented to promote better assessment practices in the field of electric machine diagnosis based on supervised classification. A case of study consisting of a motor with a broken rotor bar is described to analyze the performance of two classifiers by using scores focused on the fault detection. Also, different error estimation methods are considered to obtain unbiased predictive performances. Two statistical tests are also discussed to confirm the significance of the results under a single data set.

  • Lighting in the third dimension: laser scanning as an architectural survey and representation method

    摘要: This paper proposes tridimensional (3D) laser scanning to architects and lighting designers as a lighting enquiry and visualization method for existing built environments. The method constitutes a complement to existing lighting methods by responding to limitations of photometric measurements, computer simulation and HDR imagery in surveying and visualizing light in actual buildings. The research explores advantages and limitations of 3D laser scanning in a case study addressing a vast, geometrically complex and fragmented naturally and artificially lit space. Lighting patterns and geometry of the case study are captured with a 3D laser scanner through a series of four scans. A single 3D model of the entire space is produced from the aligned and fused scans. Lighting distribution patterns are showcased in relation to the materiality, lighting fixtures and day geometry and position of windows, walls, lighting sources. The point cloud model of the case study is also generated into a video format representing the entire building as well as different viewpoints. The study shows that the proposed method provides powerful visualization results due to the unlimited number of images that can be generated from a point cloud and facilitates understanding of existing lighting conditions in spaces.

  • A Greenhouse Test to Explore and Evaluate Light-Emitting Diode (LED) Insect Traps in the Monitoring and Control of Trialeurodes vaporariorum

    摘要: Population control of small sucking insects has been challenging, and alternative control methods are constantly being sought. Visual traps have long been used to monitor and control pests. Colored sticky cards are widely used for diurnal pests, but their effects are influenced by environmental light conditions. Artificial light traps are mostly used for nocturnal pests. Here, we explored and evaluated light-emitting diode (LED) traps for the monitoring and control of small diurnal sucking insects using greenhouse tests targeting the greenhouse whitefly Trialeurodes vaporariorum. We tested the trapping efficacy of the LED water pan trap, assessed the most attractive LED light and analyzed its efficacy under different weather conditions. The results showed that the LED water pan trap was too inefficient to be useful. Green LEDs were more attractive than yellow LEDs, UV LEDs and green-UV combinations. Regardless of sunny or cloudy conditions, the green LED trap caught more than twice the number of whiteflies than the yellow sticky card alone under summer shading conditions. Our study suggests that LED traps have a significant field application value in whitefly mass trapping and may also be efficient for other diurnal insects. The design of LED traps specific for diurnal insects is discussed.

    摘要: This paper provides an overview of the main features of several bibliometric indicators which were proposed in the last few decades. Their pros and cons are highlighted and compared with the features of the well-known impact factor (IF) to show how alternative metrics are specifically designed to address the flaws that the IF was shown to have, especially in the last few years. We also report the results of recent studies in the bibliometric literature showing how the scientific impact of journals as evaluated by bibliometrics is a very complicated matter and it is completely unrealistic to try to capture it by any single indicator, such as the IF or any other. As such, we conclude that the adoption of more metrics, with complementary features, to assess journal quality would be very beneficial as it would both offer a more comprehensive and balanced view of each journal in the space of scholarly publications, as well as eliminate the pressure on individuals and their incentive to do metric manipulation which is an unintended result of the current (mis)use of the IF as the gold standard for publication quality.

    摘要: To efficiently meet the requirements of running quality evaluation and maintenance of Power Electric Communication Network, based on the improved method of TOPSIS, this paper provides the method of comprehensive evaluation on running quality of Power Electric Communication Network. Firstly, this paper analyses the main reasons infecting running quality of Power Electric Communication Network and constructs corresponding indexes system. Then, the traditional method and characters of TOPSIS are instructed, improved by importing the method of RSR. Finally, taking Sichuan backbone optical communication network as the case to implement the proposed evaluation method, the results provide the running information of all sub-networks, displaying that absolutely value and balanced degree both influence the running situation of communication network, what’s more, with different grades, relevant departments can fulfill differentiation management and scientific strategy.

    摘要: Despite rapid advances in the study of brain–computer interfaces (BCIs) in recent decades, two fundamental challenges, namely, improvement of target detection performance and multidimensional control, continue to be major barriers for further development and applications. In this paper, we review the recent progress in multimodal BCIs (also called hybrid BCIs), which may provide potential solutions for addressing these challenges. In particular, improved target detection can be achieved by developing multimodal BCIs that utilize multiple brain patterns, multimodal signals, or multisensory stimuli. Furthermore, multidimensional object control can be accomplished by generating multiple control signals from different brain patterns or signal modalities. Here, we highlight several representative multimodal BCI systems by analyzing their paradigm designs, detection/control methods, and experimental results. To demonstrate their practicality, we report several initial clinical applications of these multimodal BCI systems, including awareness evaluation/detection in patients with disorder of consciousness (DOC). As an evolving research area, the study of multimodal BCIs is increasingly requiring more synergetic efforts from multiple disciplines for the exploration of the underlying brain mechanisms, the design of new effective paradigms and means of neurofeedback, and the expansion of the clinical applications of these systems.

    摘要: The development of base stations (BSs) with large aperture antenna arrays, enabled partially by the utilization of cmWave and mmWave frequency bands, will require radiated testing in fading conditions. In this paper, the objective is to investigate the suitable measurement distances and physical dimensions of the over-the-air setups for the performance evaluation of massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) BSs in anechoic chambers with multiple probes. Setup dimension is the major cost factor in the test systems and is thus the key issue to be investigated. The purpose is to determine whether the conventional far field criteria must be followed when determining the range of the setup or if they can be relieved. The impact of limited test setup dimension on various metrics, e.g., far field criteria, field performance within the test area, system link budget analysis, direction of arrival estimation algorithm as well as multi-user MIMO sum-rate capacity are investigated to determine the range of the test setup. It was found that the link budget does not support for the measurement distances claimed by the Fraunhofer distance. Most of the utilized metrics, especially the sum rate capacity, indicate that smaller setup sizes can still yield reasonable measurement accuracy. Simulations were performed at 2.6, 3.5, and 28 GHz frequencies.

  • Compressive Holography from Poisson Noise plagued Holograms using Expectation-Maximization

    摘要: We present the concept of an acoustic rake receiver—a microphone beamformer that uses echoes to improve the noise and interference suppression. The rake idea is well-known in wireless communications; it involves constructively combining different multipath components that arrive at the receiver antennas. Unlike spread-spectrum signals used in wireless communications, speech signals are not orthogonal to their shifts. Therefore, we focus on the spatial structure, rather than the temporal. Instead of explicitly estimating the channel, we create correspondences between early echoes in time and image sources in space. These multiple sources of the desired and the interfering signal offer additional spatial diversity that we can exploit in the beamformer design. We present several “intuitive” and optimal formulations of acoustic rake receivers, and show theoretically and numerically that the rake formulation of the maximum signal-to-interference-and-noise ratio beamformer offers significant performance boosts in terms of noise and interference suppression. Beyond signal-to-noise ratio, we observe gains in terms of the perceptual evaluation of speech quality (PESQ) metric for the speech quality.     摘要: Effectiveness evaluation model based on ambient fuzzy operator laser/microwave satellite communication system (L/MSCS), in order to evaluate the effectiveness of L/MSCS more scientifically. In this paper, the model establishes an ambient parameter system, and selects the ambient state according to the actual situation of L/MSCS, and then selects the ambient fuzzy operator according to the state. The effectiveness of L/MSCS is simulated by this model and compared with the basic fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (fuzzy-AHP). The research results show that the proposed model is closer to the actual situation and more scientific than fuzzy-AHP.
