  • Performance improvement of polymer solar cells with binary additives induced morphology optimization and interface modification simultaneously

    摘要: Active layer morphology optimization and electrode buffer layer interface modification are commonly used strategies in improving the performance of polymer solar cells (PSCs). In this study, we prepared PTB7: PC71BM bulk heterojunction PSCs with 1,8-diiodooctane (DIO) and polyethylene glycol (PEG) additives, and studied the influence of binary additives on exciton dissociation, charge transport and charge extraction. DIO facilitates donor/acceptor phase separation for efficient exciton dissociation and charge transport. The migration of PEG from active layer to the PEDOT:PSS layer improves the crystallinity of PTB7, optimizes charge transport pathway, and enhances the conductivity of PEDOT:PSS layer. With the combined advantages of binary additives in active layer morphology optimization and anode buffer layer modification, the device exhibits a high short-circuit current density of 20.03 mA/cm2 and an improved power conversion efficiency. Binary additive provides a promising method to optimize active layer morphology and improve interfacial buffer layer of PSCs simultaneously.

  • Speciation Analysis of Ag2S- and ZnS-Nanoparticles at ng/L Level in Environmental Waters by Cloud Point Extraction Coupled with LC-ICPMS

    摘要: Toxicity and transport of metal-based nanoparticles (M-NPs) in environmental waters strongly depend on their speciation. A detailed understanding of the composition and speciation of M-NPs is necessary in order to move this field forward. Unfortunately, there is a shortage of analytical methods for metal-sulfide nanoparticles (MS-NPs) in the environment. In this work, a cloud point extraction (CPE) method combined with liquid chromatography hyphenated to inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LC-ICPMS) is developed for sensitive determination of Ag2S- and ZnS-NPs. Under the condition of 0.15% (w/v) of Triton X-114 (TX-114), pH 5, 20 mM NaNO3, incubation temperature of 45 oC and time of 15 min, MS-NPs and non-MS-NPs were extracted into the surfactant-rich phase. With the sequent addition of 10 mM bis(p-sulfonatophenyl)phenylphosphane dehydrate dipotassium (BSPP) aqueous solution (100 μL) into the CPE-obtained extract, the non-MS-NPs were selectively dissociated into their ionic counterparts while maintaining the original size and shape of Ag2S- and ZnS-NPs. Interestingly, the micelle-mediated behavior suddenly disappeared with the addition of BSPP. Thus, the extract can be injected to LC-ICPMS for speciation analysis of trace Ag2S- and ZnS-NPs. This method exhibited excellent reproducibility (relative standard deviations < 4.9%), high sensitivity with the respective detection limits of 8 ng/L for Ag2S-NPs and 15 ng/L for ZnS-NPs, enabling recoveries of 81.3-96.6% for Ag2S-NPs and 83.9-93.5% for ZnS-NPs when they were spiked into three environmental water samples. Due to its potential applicability to low concentrations of Ag2S- and ZnS-NPs, this method is particularly convenient for monitoring the transformations of AgNPs and ZnO-NPs in the environment.

  • Rapid detection of sulfamethoxazole in plasma and food samples with in-syringe membrane SPE coupled with solid-phase fluorescence spectrometry

    摘要: In this work, in-syringe membrane solid-phase extraction (MSPE) device was fabricated for the on-site sampling of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) in food samples followed by solid-phase fluorescence spectra analysis. The samples and fluorescamine (FA) were added to a syringe for derivation. Then, the derivative of SMX was extracted by a membrane in the syringe SPE device. Subsequently, the derivative on the membrane was measured immediately without additional elution procedure. The method was successfully applied in plasma, milk, and egg samples for the trace SMX detection, with the recovery of 98 % to 102 %, RSDs from 1 % to 6 %. Compared with liquid chromatography, direct detection of the concentrated analyte significantly improved the sensitivity. Moreover, fluorescamine made it unnecessary to separate SMX from the interference. Consequently, it was a time-saving, low-cost, and easy-operation method, which demonstrated the potential of in-syringe SPE as a promising candidate for on-site analysis.

  • Enhanced Optical Output of Near-Ultraviolet Light-Emitting Diodes by a Monolayer of Nanospheres

    摘要: The optical output of near-ultraviolet (NUV) light-emitting diodes (LEDs) was improved by including a monolayer of hexagonal close-packed polystyrene (PS) nanospheres. PS nanospheres with different sizes were deposited on the indium tin oxide layer of the NUV LEDs. The electroluminescence results showed that the light extraction efficiency of the NUV LEDs was increased by the inclusion of PS nanospheres, and the maximum optical output enhancement was obtained when the size of the nanospheres was close to the light wavelength. The largest enhancement of the optical output of 1.27-fold was obtained at an injection current of 100 mA. The enhanced optical output was attributed to part of the incident light beyond the critical angle being extracted when the exit surface of the NUV LEDs had a PS nanosphere monolayer. This method may serve as a low-cost and effective approach to raise the efficiency of NUV LEDs.

  • Self-Aligned Hierarchical ZnO Nanorod/NiO Nanosheet Arrays for High Photon Extraction Efficiency of GaN-Based Photonic Emitter

    摘要: Advancements in nanotechnology have facilitated the increased use of ZnO nanostructures. In particular, hierarchical and core–shell nanostructures, providing a graded refractive index change, have recently been applied to enhance the photon extraction e?ciency of photonic emitters. In this study, we demonstrate self-aligned hierarchical ZnO nanorod (ZNR)/NiO nanosheet arrays on a conventional photonic emitter (C-emitter) with a wavelength of 430 nm. These hierarchical nanostructures were synthesized through a two-step hydrothermal process at low temperature, and their optical output power was approximately 17% higher than that of ZNR arrays on a C-emitter and two times higher than that of a C-emitter. These results are due to the graded index change in refractive index from the GaN layer inside the device toward the outside as well as decreases in the total internal re?ection and Fresnel re?ection of the photonic emitter.

  • Flexible Alla??Solutiona??Processed Organic Solar Cells with Higha??Performance Nonfullerene Active Layers

    摘要: All-solution-processed organic solar cells (from the bottom substrate to the top electrode) are highly desirable for low-cost and ubiquitous applications. However, it is still challenging to fabricate efficient all-solution-processed organic solar cells with a high-performance nonfullerene (NF) active layer. Issues of charge extraction and wetting are persistent at the interface between the nonfullerene active layer and the printable top electrode (PEDOT:PSS). In this work, efficient all-solution-processed NF organic solar cells (from the bottom substrate to the top electrode) are reported via the adoption of a layer of hydrogen molybdenum bronze (HXMoO3) between the active layer and the PEDOT:PSS. The dual functions of HXMoO3 include: 1) its deep Fermi level of ?5.44 eV can effectively extract holes from the active layer; and 2) the wetting issues of the PEDOT:PSS on the hydrophobic surface of the NF active layer can be solved. Importantly, fine control of the HXMoO3 composition during the synthesis is critical in obtaining processing orthogonality between HXMoO3 and the PEDOT:PSS. Flexible all-solution-processed NF organic solar cells with power conversion efficiencies of 11.9% and 10.3% are obtained for solar cells with an area of 0.04 and 1 cm2, respectively.

  • Thin-film flip-chip UVB LEDs realized by electrochemical etching

    摘要: We demonstrate a thin-?lm ?ip-chip (TFFC) light-emitting diode (LED) emitting in the ultraviolet B (UVB) at 311 nm, where substrate removal has been achieved by electrochemical etching of a sacri?cial Al0:37Ga0:63N layer. The electroluminescence spectrum of the TFFC LED corresponds well to the as-grown LED structure, showing no sign of degradation of structural and optical properties by electrochemical etching. This is achieved by a proper epitaxial design of the sacri?cial layer and the etch stop layers in relation to the LED structure and the electrochemical etch conditions. Enabling a TFFC UV LED is an important step toward improving the light extraction ef?ciency that limits the power conversion ef?ciency in AlGaN-based LEDs.

  • Light Extraction Efficiency Optimization of AlGaN-Based Deep-Ultraviolet Light-Emitting Diodes

    摘要: Using finite-difference time-domain method, the light extraction efficiency (LEE) of AlGaN-based deep-ultraviolet light-emitting diodes (DUV LEDs) is investigated. Simulation results show that compared to flat sapphire substrate, the nano-patterned sapphire substrate (NPSS) expands the extraction angles of top surface and sidewalls. As a result, the LEE of transverse-magnetic (TM) polarized light is improved significantly. Roughening on the backside of n-AlGaN surface significantly enhances the LEE of top surface of thin-film flip-chip DUV LEDs. However, the LEE of sidewalls of thin-film flip-chip DUV LEDs is greatly weakened. For bare DUV LED, the LEE of flip-chip LED on NPSS is estimated to be about 15%, which is around 50% higher than that of thin-film flip-chip DUV LED with roughening on the backside of n-AlGaN surface.

  • Modification of NiO <sub/>x</sub> hole transport layer for acceleration of charge extraction in inverted perovskite solar cells

    摘要: The modification of the inorganic hole transport layer has been an efficient method for optimizing the performance of inverted perovskite solar cells. In this work, we propose a facile modification of a compact NiOx film with NiOx nanoparticles and explore the effects on the charge carrier dynamic behaviors and photovoltaic performance of inverted perovskite devices. The modification of the NiOx hole transport layer can not only enlarge the surface area and infiltration ability, but also adjust the valence band maximum to well match that of perovskite. The photoluminescence results confirm the acceleration of the charge separation and transport at the NiOx/perovskite interface. The corresponding device possesses better photovoltaic parameters than the device based on control NiOx films. Moreover, the charge carrier transport/recombination dynamics are further systematically investigated by the measurements of time-resolved photoluminescence, transient photovoltage and transient photocurrent. Consequently, the results demonstrate that proper modification of NiOx can significantly enlarge interface area and improve the hole extraction capacity, thus efficiently promoting charge separation and inhibiting charge recombination, which leads to the enhancement of the device performances.

  • Laser Spot Center Location Method for Chinese Spaceborne GF-7 Footprint Camera

    摘要: The Gaofen-7 (GF-7) satellite is equipped with two area array sensor footprint cameras to capture the laser altimeter spot. In order to establish a direct correspondence between the laser data and the stereo image data, a new method is proposed to fit the center of the spot using the brightness difference between the spot image and the footprint image. First, the geometric registration between the spot image and the footprint image is completed based on feature matching or template matching. Then, the brightness values between the two images are extracted from the corresponding image position to form a measurement, and the least squares adjustment method is used to calculate the parameters of the brightness conversion model between the spot image and the footprint image. Finally, according to the registration relationship, the center of the identified spots is respectively positioned in the footprint images, so that the laser spots are accurately identified in the along-track stereo footprint images. The experimental results show that the spot error of this method is less than 0.7 pixel, which has higher reliability and stability, and can be used for a GF-7 satellite footprint camera.
