    摘要: Characterized by particle-like behaviors, soliton molecules interesting further unveil vivid multi-soliton dynamics and the research pulse-interaction scenarios community of ultrafast fiber lasers. Here, we report the formation of dispersion-managed solitons (DMSs) in an all-fiber laser passively mode-locked by a 45° tilted fiber grating (45° TFG) near the zero-dispersion regime. Particularly, typical DMS singlets are observed, possessing a broadband and smooth spectral shape. reinforced Besides, on stretching-compressing process during the pulse propagation, various multi-pulse DMS molecules are also discovered. Moreover, transient soliton dynamics of dual-pulse and triple-pulse DMS molecules covering the timescale over hundreds of round trips are illustrated based on dispersive Fourier transformation (DFT) technique. The investigation of multi-soliton compounds, caused by direct soliton interaction, probably paves access to the explorations of nonlinear dynamics in mode-locked lasers.

    摘要: A switchable dual-wavelength linear-cavity erbium-doped fiber laser based on a polarization maintaining fiber Bragg grating (PM-FBG) and a chirped FBG (CFBG) is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. Due to the polarization hole burning (PHB) effect introduced by the PM-FBG, the laser designed can operate in stable dual-wavelength mode with a wavelength spacing of 0.667 nm or easily switch to single-wavelength lasing mode by adjusting a polariza-tion controller at room temperature. The optical signal to noise ratio (OSNR) of the dual-wavelength output is >70 dB, and the wavelength fluctuation and power fluctuation are less than 0.02 nm and 0.04 dB respec-tively for both wavelengths during an experimental time of 30 minutes. In addition, the wavelength shifts with temperature tuning is also investigated.

    摘要: An all-fiberized linearly polarized nanosecond fiber laser with high peak power and near-transfrom-limited linewidth is demonstrated based on master oscillator power amplifier structure. Employing the polarization-maintaining fiber with large-mode-area Yb-doped tapered longitudinal geometry, short length and high concentration, the main amplifier possesses excellent performance for nonlinear effect suppression, including stimulated Brillouin scattering effect and self-phase modulation effect. As a result, an average output power of 8.8 W with the pulse duration of 3.8 ns is obtained at the repetition frequency of 80 kHz after the amplification, corresponding to the peak power of ~30 kW and the pulse energy of 110 uJ. The near- transform-limited linewidth is maintained, accompanying high polarization extinction ratio of more than 16 dB and near-diffraction-limited beam quality with M2 factor of 1.2. It is known to be the record output power of all-fiber linearly polarized ns fiber laser with transform-limited linewidth, to the best of our knowledge.

    摘要: Graphene and 2D materials are being used in the design of light sources due to their wide absorption spectrum, ultrafast recovery time and high modulation depth. In this work, we present a experimental design of an modelocking Erbium-Doped-Fiber-Laser (EDFL) that uses graphene deposited onto D-shaped optical fiber, acting as a saturable absorber, in order to generate ultra-short pulses in an important region for optical communications: 1558.5 nm. To best of our knowledge, this is the first ultrashort pulses laser designed an experimentally validated in Colombia. The results shows a pulsed laser with a repetition rate of 33.3 MHz and a spectral width of 10 nm.

  • Stable Multi-wavelength Thulium-doped All-fiber Laser Incorporating a Multi-cavity Fabry-Perot Filter

    摘要: The present manuscript experimentally demonstrates multi-wavelength generation from a thulium-doped all-fiber laser by implementing a multi-cavity Fabry-Perot filter. The filter, with a composition that relies of several silica-air and air-silica interfaces, provide a spectral reflection response that allows the laser to be operated in single-, dual- or triple-wavelength emissions by simple and clear adjustment of the polarization state. In this way, the fiber laser is capable to operate over a broad range of wavelengths extending from 1844 to 1928 nm. In addition, dual-wavelength operations are also feasible in the 1844 and 1928 nm regions, exhibiting a mode spacing of 4.41 nm and 1.62 nm, respectively. Beside this, the laser is able to switch to a sextuple-wavelength operation regime in the 1885 nm region, maintaining a minimum wavelength spacing of 1.53 nm. The laser demonstrates high wavelength stability, with variations below 60 pm at all analyzed wavelengths, and a minimum peak power fluctuation of ±2.77 dB.

  • Optically Modulated Tunable O-Band Praseodymium-Doped Fluoride Fiber Laser Utilizing Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotube Saturable Absorber <sup>*</sup>

    摘要: A tunable and optically modulated fiber laser utilizing a multi-walled carbon nanotube based saturable absorber is demonstrated for operation in the O-band region. A praseodymium-doped fluoride fiber is used as the gain medium and the system is capable of generating modulated outputs at 1300 nm. Pulsed output is observed at pump powers of 511 mW and above, with repetition rates and pulse widths that can be tuned from 41 kHz and 3.4 ??s to 48 kHz and 2.4 ??s, respectively, at the maximum pump power available. A maximum average output power of 100 ??W with a corresponding single pulse energy of 2.1 nJ is measured, while the tunability of the proposed laser is from 1290 nm to 1308 nm. The output is stable, with peak power fluctuations of ~4 dB from the average value.

  • Ho <sup>3+</sup> -Doped All-Fiber Laser Q-Switched by D-Shaped Fiber Carbon-Nanotube Saturable Absorber

    摘要: D-shaped fiber deposited with single-wall carbon-nanotubes was used as fiber-optic saturable absorber to achieve Q-switched Ho3+-doped fluoride fiber laser in all-fiber configuration with superior compactness and reliability. Stable Q-switched operation at 1192 nm was established at the pump power of 290 mW. When the pump power was increased to 1280 mW, Q-switched laser with a pulse duration of 1.1 μs and pulse energy of 0.11 μJ at a repetition rate of 127 kHz was obtained. This all-fiber laser exhibits high stability with a radio-frequency signal-to-noise ratio > 50 dB.

    摘要: Because of their numerous advantages and potential applications, fiber lasers have attracted considerable attention since they first appeared in the 1960s. However, the output power of the early device was small, which restricted its application to a great extent. In the 1990s, with the invention of the double-clad fiber, the output of fiber lasers was greatly improved, which was comparable to that of the bulk lasers. Moreover, the characteristics of fiber lasers such as compact structure, high efficiency, and high beam quality are far superior than that of the traditional rod lasers. Therefore, in recent years, fiber laser technology and its applications have developed rapidly, becoming a new hot spot in the laser field.

  • Tunable multiwavelength erbium-doped fiber laser based on BPQDs packaged by poly tetra fluoroethylene and two segments of PMF

    摘要: Two types of tunable and stable multiwavelength erbium-doped fiber lasers(MWEDFLs) are proposed and experimentally demonstrated, which are based on novel poly tetra fluoroethylene packaging device of black phosphorus quantum dots (PTFEPD-BPQDs) and two sections of polarization maintaining fiber(PMF) in cascade/in parallel. The novel fabrication process uses silica capillaries and PTFE to package BPQDs. The PTFEPD-BPQDs has the function of suppressing the mode competition and stabilizing the multiwavelength output. The channel space and wavelength number of the two types of tunable MWEDFLs can be tuned by adjusting polarization controllers(PCs). In the experiments, for the unpackaged BPQDs device, BPQDs will degrade and lose its function within 48 h, while for the PTFEPD-BPQDs, BPQDs can keep its function for more than 3 weeks. By adjusting the PC, in the cascaded structure, the multiwavelength channel spacing can be tuned among nearly 1.98, 0.67 and 0.43 nm, and the number of multiwavelength output is 4, 9 and 13, respectively.
